Good on her. If they're just making shit up they need to be pegged for it.

I love it when the papers are made to apologize for this shit. It's one thing if they capture a celebrity acting like a jerk in public --- in my mind, that's fair game. But when they just start making stuff up -- especially this really harmful stuff, that's a whole other ballgame. More power to her!

It's great when the trash rags, under the guise of journalism, print their garbage and then get smacked with lawsuits and have to pay for their lies. They are lowlifes that have no conscience when it comes to defaming people. Unfortunately, their will be a few morons that in spite of the retraction will still believe what the rag wrote.

One thing I've been thinking about her is maybe she was with Damion, Roxie's ex boyfriend. There has been a tension there that wasn't protective sister when he comes to visit.

Interesting thought, Sky. I don't know if she's been with Damian, but I get the feeling she knows about something he's done or been involved in that he'd rather not be made public. Should turn into an interesting storyline.

I thought there was an episode a while back where he threatened to tell Roxy about him & Ronnie...! Did I dream that??

However, I'm sure there's lots more to her...she's a pretty deep character. Wait till she finds out what Phil has been up to.

Samantha Janus has been engaged for the past six years - not that you'd know it. The EastEnders star hasn't got round to telling family and friends, or wearing her ring, let alone setting a date for the big day.

But maybe that's not so surprising. When her long-term partner, Sorted actor Mark Womack, popped the question it was all a bit half-hearted and unromantic. What she really wants is for him to ask her again. Properly.

"Mark has proposed," says 35-year-old Sam, who plays ice queen Ronnie Mitchell in the hit BBC soap, which was the most-watched show on Christmas Day. "He has gone as far as buying me a ring but then it just fizzled out.

"We were at a flea market in Paris and he said, 'Do you want one of these rings?' I said, 'Is that a proposal?' and he said, 'Yes'. I said, 'All right then', and I put it on my finger.

"Then nothing happened and it got put to one side. So I say it doesn't count any more. You can't get engaged seven years ago and say it still counts, that's just rubbish. You have to start again from scratch.

"What I'd really like is to do it properly - the full thing with the romantic location and with Mark down on one knee. To propose then set a date and do it quickly.

"We almost did it on an island in the Caribbean when I was pregnant with our son Ben. We were on a sailing trip and the guy with us could do everything - sail, cook and also marry us. But we didn't have our passports with us."

When Sam met Mark on the set of police drama Liverpool 1 they began an affair which raised eyebrows. Both were married and subsequently left their partners to be together. Since then they have had Ben, six, and two-year-old Lily Rose - but still not managed to tie the knot.

"The past seven years we've had a lot on our plate," explains Sam. "We were expecting there to be a quiet moment to sort it out. Hopefully that's the reason and he hasn't got a phobia about marrying me!

"Mark talks about it all the time and he wants it to be perfect. I fantasise about how I'd do it, where it would be, what I'd wear and what I would dress the kids in.

"I was very young when I first got married but I'm not cynical about marriage. I'd love to be married to Mark, we just have to find time to do it."

Their life has certainly been hectic, and it hasn't helped that they are dogged by rumours that their relationship is on the rocks. Last year Sam laughed off talk linking her with Don Johnson, her co-star in the West End musical Guys And Dolls. But she doesn't deny that there have been fiery rows where she has even thrown 47-year-old Mark out of the house.

"Like any other couple we have rocky times and we have rows," she says. "I have kicked him out lots of times... for forgetting the milk, all sorts. But we would rather that than row in front of the kids. I just say I want some space. I prefer that to shouting and screaming.

"I am more fiery than Mark, he is annoyingly quiet. He wins arguments by being quiet. But our relationship just keep getting better. There has never been a moment when I have contemplated leaving, we work so well together.

"And we haven't rowed since I started on EastEnders - I haven't seen him! When I get my four weeks off it might be a different story..."

Before landing the part of Ronnie, Sam put her career on hold to be a mum. They were hard times - money was tight and both her children were ill from an early age. Lily was born with an angioma, a collection of blood vessels in the top of her head that came out in a bulbous growth. Ben suffered with chronic asthma and would be in hospital for days after a bad attack.

"The first few years of their lives were spent in and out of hospital," says Sam. "Remarkably both conditions have cleared up in the last six months. A week before Lily was due to have an op the growth started healing and went. And Ben's asthma cleared up. For the first time we are getting a good night's sleep."

It seems that joining EastEnders has coincided with a happier time all round, but playing Ronnie has come at price - Sam has put on half a stone. She moans: "Not one of the jackets that I started with fit and do up."

Still, it has also brought her closer to an old pal - in more ways than one. Over Christmas, Ronnie finally kissed Jack Branning, played by Scott Maslen - Mark's best mate.

"It was weird," she says. "In one of the flirting scenes I walk away and Scott lowers his eyes. Mark texted him, 'Oi, are you looking at my bird's bum?' And Scott texted back: 'Absolutely, mate!'"

EastEnders' Ronnie in pigeon rescue

Samantha Janus might be best known for playing feisty Ronnie Mitchell in BBC One soap EastEnders, but in reality, the actress is a bit of a softie. She told the Beeb how she has taken care of an injured racing pigeon in between takes on the show. "The poor thing was limping around the set of Albert Square," she said. "He was not only tired, but injured too. So I've taken care of him."

Janus also informed the Racing Pigeon Association about the bird's condition, and the organisation is now trying to find its owner. She revealed: "He is now in a shed, at home in my garden. We've called him Albert after where he was found. The Racing Pigeon Association is trying to contact the owners, but I'm not sure they would want an injured bird - but if they don't we will keep him as my kids are already attached to him."

It's such a good story, we're surprised the soap's writers didn't put it in the show - it would brighten things up no end.

Nice thing she's done, but it's no story-line.
