Gotta wonder if ole' Sergei is still alive after getting (seemingly) that close to a Russian Brown Bear.

I've just been thinking about that (you could have heard the cogs grinding down the street) and I've come to the conclusion that he had a very high resolution camera and quality zoom. This theory is based on the amount of light from the flash that you can see reflected in the bear and it leads me to guess that he was about 10ft away - just far enough to get the hell out of dodge if it went wrong!

That or the camera was on a tripod and he got it remotely. Which seems far more reasonable eh? All those cogs grinding too... crazed Laughing

Here are some pics taken by satellite...The way the one of the Himalayas shows the same visual effect that ice would have on a magnified scale, rather than from a great distance, is brilliant.

Lake Carnegie in Western Australia which fills only during heavy rainfall

Snow-capped ridges of the eastern Himalayas creating an irregular white-on-red patchwork between rivers and China

Surrounded by sand dunes, Lake Disappointment is an ephemeral salt lake in one of the most remote areas of Western Australia

The Ganges River forms an extensive delta where it empties into the Bay of Bengal

snow-capped Colima Volcano, the most active volcano in Mexico

It really amazes me what snow and ice can do based on the temp and wind. Being from a warm climate, we really don't get to see anything like this. Cool....
