It's completely horrible. I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. As I was watching the news this morning I couldn't even speak. And then having to get those in Hawaii ready for being hit. At least they had some warning. My heart goes out to all the people affected by this. |

One of our members recently moved to Tokyo - where, according to the news, the electricity has been cut off to 4 million homes. |

even if we know they're designed to do that, it would frighten the hell out of me to see that... |

I don't think there's any more than usual, but with them being caused by tectonic shifts, it makes sense that if there's one in a specific place then there should be others elsewhere as the other edge of the plates shift.
Here's a video taken in Tokyo - hundreds of miles away from the epicentre

Rapper 50 Cent and comedian Gilbert Gottfried under fire for Tweets on Japan earthquake
March 14, 2011
The “In da Club” rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, took to his Twitter account over the weekend to comment on the devastating earthquake, reports the Daily Mail. “Look this is very serious people I had to evacuate all my hoes from LA, Hawaii and Japan. I had to do it. Lol,” he wrote. Shortly after, the rapper posted, “Nah this is nuts but what can anyone do about it. Let’s pray for anyone who has lost someone.” The rapper later posted on the social networking site that he tweets for “shock value.” Hate it or love it. I’m cool either way 50cent,” he wrote. “Some of my tweets are ignorant I do it for shock value.”
Gottfried also rubbed some followers the wrong way when he posted jokes about the devastation. “I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, ‘They'll be another one floating by any minute now,’” he tweeted on Saturday. “What does every Japanese person have in their apartment? Flood lights,” Gottfried added. Gottfried, 56, who is the voice of the duck in the insurance company Aflac’s ad campaigns, has been fired. A spokesman from the company told TMZ, “Gilbert’s recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac.”
