Sugar Tax
This article is obviously heavily editorialized but there it is. I know now that New York is looking into this as well. Personally, I don't drink those kind of drinks so I can honeslty say it won't effect me but I am not sure if this is the way to fix obesity. After all, I don't think I've met many smokers or drinkers who stopped either of those habits when taxes were raised on cigarettes and alcohol. And wouldn't a better way to fight obesity would be to fund programs in the schools and communities to help educate people on healthy living and getting them exercise? But then the government wouldn't make money off of that. So, I'm still undecided on what I think of this.

EDIT: Had to link the article as it caused web page to navigate to the articles site of origin

It sounds like a money-maker, but having seen cider go up 10% in tax a few weeks back, only for it to be set back to normal this week, I suggest that fizzy-pop drinkers get on to their mps!

Did it affect diet drinks though?
