Has anybody heard of veteran US Senator Lyndon Larouche? Either had I when I stumbled onto a documentary called "Firewall: In Defense of the Nation State " on this YouTube presentation; http://www.youtube.com/user/laroucheyouth#p/u/479/4lUSsDfSG5M

Having just watched it I cannot decide if it’s a complete Conspiracy nonsense version of history or not, as although I’m no History Professor, I do actually know a bit of history, and I’m astounded that I cannot refute any of the “facts” presented. It presents an interesting thesis that the “English System” or “British Model”, as implemented from the days of Empire to the present, has used the concept of “Free Trade” to dominate, subvert & be the motivating factor behind most of the World’s major events.

Have I been suckered by a yank David Icke type ?!!

I've heard the name before, but never watched any - I'll give it a go.

I started watching the video that's first up on that page, but it's so dull-ly presented that I couldn't take any more than about 8 minutes... I need my information to be snappy!

I was a bit concerned by it being the "Larouche Youth" channel also - does that mean he has a following of adherents?

That's a shame as I would have liked to have known your opinion; perhaps give it another try with a can of redbull in your hand (!), if you even make as far as just to WW1 you will never think of that war again without his thesis.

Yes it appears that there is a large political organisation/movement that promotes his views; almost like a cult !

I watched all 90 minutes in a semi doze and must admit I thought it was utter hogwash.

Another video full of pseudoscience (like What The Bleep!) and bizarre speculation. The British-Hitler pact made me laugh out loud.

The LaDouche guy adds the word fascism to everything he doesn't like. That to me says watch out for the hyperbole!

Maybe it is all hogwash, but I’m not sure you can write it off under “pseudoscience”, which is a term normally applied to propositions based on dodgy physical science. My problem is that all the historical evidence presented seems bona-fide, but the accompanying explanations/conclusions that are presented, are as plausible as they are utterly bizarre ! Is this solely down to clever spin ?

Yes I also looked him up, and it also seems that he was at one time a serious contender as a Presidential Candidate; however I’m rather confront his theories/arguments rather than simply demises his views because of what his background may or not be, as that seems a bit like playing the man instead of the ball !

The pseudoscience comes from the part where they showed physical entities which couldn't exist in two separate dimensions and then implied that that was the same for an economy and specifically mentioned the "physical economy" as if it wasn't actually a mental concept but a physical entity. It isn't. That is pseudoscience and claptrap. That piece went on for a number of minutes and had graphs and diagrams which underlined its serious status as scientific evidence which it wasn't. It was rubbish.

Their rewriting of history for both the origins of WWI and WWII had no evidence to suggest it was bona-fide. They just said it was. Where were the historians backing up their theories? They were none because there are none.

And as to the man's personal qualities and its relationship to his views.... he runs a cult based on this nonsense. He was schooled under a fella called Gerry Healy who was a Trot and a very unprincipled man who again ran a bizarre cult like political organisation.

Fascist cult 'may have killed Jewish student'
A new British inquest has been ordered into the death of a Jewish student in Germany after claims that he might have been killed by a far-Right cult.
By Murray Wardrop

A coroner in Germany ruled that Jeremiah Duggan, 22, had committed suicide by running on to a road where he was hit by fast-moving cars in 2003. A High Court judge in London yesterday said that evidence of “foul play” must be investigated after new details suggested the crash was faked and he might have been killed.

The court was told that Mr Duggan, from north London, had attended a youth event organised by the far-Right, “cult like’’ LaRouche group before his death. Mr Duggan, who was studying at the British Institute and the Sorbonne in Paris, had believed he was attending a conference about the problems in Iraq. Lord Justice Elias said his death, which was thought to have occurred on a highway near Wiesbaden, might have happened elsewhere and could have been “stage managed” to look like a road accident.

One member of the LaRouche group allegedly told his mother: “We have hunted him down ... it is right that he is dead, he is a traitor and a spy.” The judge ruled that potentially crucial evidence was not available at the first inquest held in 2003 by Dr William Dolman, the north London coroner. Dr Dolman concluded in a narrative verdict that Mr Duggan “received fatal head injuries when he ran into the road” after phone calls home disclosed that he was “in a state of terror”.

Quashing that inquest, Lord Justice Elias said: “It is sufficient that fresh evidence here could alter the verdict, and in any event it is very much in the interests of justice that it should be carefully considered and analysed in a fresh inquest. It puts in issue whether or not there may have been foul play. It is necessary that this fresh inquest is held. We are not saying what the outcome of that inquest will be.’’

The decision was welcomed by Erica Duggan, Jeremiah’s mother, who has long fought for a new hearing. She hopes it will lead to the German authorities reopening their investigations into her son’s death. She said: “No country has investigated my son’s death properly as yet. The German state has failed us. The British state has an obligation to establish how Jeremiah died.”

Lawyers for Mrs Duggan described the LaRouche group as “a cult-like organisation which Mrs Duggan now knows espouses a fascist and anti-Semitic ideology and is headed by Lyndon LaRouche, a convicted fraudster”. The new inquest will be before a different coroner.
