What gets me is that they accuse Hamas of war-crimes too - but how can a group be involved in a 'war' if they don't have a sovereign state supporting them? Legally speaking that doesn't make sense to me.
Of course, it's no surprise that the Israeli goverment are accusing the UN of bias though - but Israel has always been flagrantly breaking international law, so who gives a fuck what their representatives say?
According to the Geneva Convention all signatories should now be making steps to arrest and prosecute those Israelis responsible. I'll not hold my breath though.
Meanwhile I heard about the new Gaza Convoy mission today - leaving London on the 5th/6th of December with the hope that by the time they arrive in Gaza that there will be 250+ vehicles. That's quite some effort if they can get it done. |

Yeah, it's like, let's accuse the Palestinians of war crimes as well; just so it doesn't appear too biased or even anti-Semitic. |

whether its a war crime, or some other sort of crime, its still a crime. i know international law allows certain actions in resistance to occupation, and i doubt we'd be having this kind of debate if nazi germany still occupied poland - criticising the polish for war crimes during resistance to the nazi occupation! but as the article says ( i've not read the full report yet ) where the rockets the palestinians fire land in civilian areas, whether deliberate or accidental ( they're homemade rockets after all, they're not using the latest guidance systems ), thats a crime of whatever type you want to call it. when the british and american forces blow up a wedding party in afghanistan by mistake - thats a crime, mistake or not, its a crime - although its never treated as a crime - its always treated as a mistake.
that the rockets are fired as part of resistance to israel's illegal occupation is another matter, and to me the more important matter - end the occupation, end the resistance to it.
does the report actually accuse hamas of war crimes, because from what i remember, up until israel broke the ceasefire, hamas had maintained their side of the deal and the rockets fired were from other groups inside gaza - which hamas had been cracking down on, and had been recognised as doing so. or does it just deal with the rockets fired after israel broke the ceasefire and invaded?
edit - heres the full report http://www2.ohchr.org/english/bodies/hrcouncil/specialsession/9/docs/UNFFMGC_Report.pdf |
