Two thoughts.
My first is in general... why all the fuss? This issue and the all the nonsense about expenses dominate so much of the political media unless you scratch the surface which the majority of folk don't. It surprises me that George gives this any time, his moral conservatism and possible personal issues notwithstanding. More smoke screen.
The second is about the show last night. Again it surprises me when personal attacks are given credence by George. Karl more or less defamed Draper and his profession. Draper is a qualified psychotherapist and member of the preferred UK governing umbrella, BACP. |

I think there is a so much fuss because it's direct proof of the dirty tricks that these politicians get up to. It's not as if he iss some young guy who wanted to get a foot on the ladder, but someone who had been in politics for most of his life. It shows that he felt comfortable enough in his trough to not worry about the logic of getting caught.
As far as Karl is concerned, I mustn't have been listening closely - but I remember someone attacking the idea of cognitive behavioural therapy. Which is not much different from attacking the idea that the world is round. |

But in this case getting caught doing more or less nothing... when I finally looked at the so-called filth George was complaining about it was a case of the emperor's new clothes...
Similarly with the expenses the whole Home Secretary porn thing was trivial if anything and the whole expenses thing a structural problem rather than the wicked thievery by evil masterminds portrayed by the press.
I wish they would concentrate on critiquing the absurd system we live in which condemns most people to a life of wage slavery. |

I've just read the article in the NOTW - and you're right, it really is a load of crap. The fact that one story is about some mp dressing up in women's underwear just says it all. |

What is frustrating is that millions follow the obey, conform, deny, work, consume and die path and nothing is ever said. We quibble over minutiae, make a fuss that falls on deaf ears when people are massacred and wars fought, a fuss that is heard when it is about utter puerile and unimportant issues and carry on... obeying and conforming to the system, denying our nature as human beings who aren't suited to wage slavery and brain numbing mechanised service production. We work. Why? We buy more and more crap. Why? Then we die... having for the best part of humanity done nothing except make other people's wealth increase.
And all the while the media collude with the system and we think it is okay to work for twenty years to pay for a house that we could learn how to build and build in less than two. |

Over the years I've found that it's a waste of energy to get too frustrated about the fact that most people are either blind to the machinations of 'the system' or who think it's the only viable option.
Living by example is about all you can do on a personal level and it is quite pleasing to know that you've inspired at least a few others to do the same. |
