I've never posted in this forum before since I'm a terrible cook and I know next to nothing about food preparation, but I found out about this website today and I'm thinking of ordering from it!

http://alternativemeats.co.uk

It's UK based and you can order stuff like crocodile burgers, bison steaks, ostrich meat... all sorts of cool and unusual creatures just waiting for you to gobble them!

I wouldn't mind trying an ostrich burger - does it say if the meat's locally produced?

I think there' s a big push in Britain right now to eat rose veal --- something on the F-word this season--- in fact I went looking for the stuff here today to make veal piccatta and couldn't find any.

Some of those things might be worth a try --- it'll be interesting to hear if you end up trying any kate.

I had a bison steak just last week. It was very lean, had a very slight gamey taste to it but was delicious.

I know there's an Ostrich farm in Berkshire so it's likely the meat is British-produced, if not exactly local.

I'm not a fan of ostrich. It's a bit too gamy for my liking. But for all I know it was just the way it was prepared. I have only had it the one time.

There are a fair few ostrich and emu farms in NM, so it's not that rare in those parts. Can't say that I have seen many here!

It tastes not unlike venison but with a different flavour? Well that's that explained then!
