It may be just me, or it may be they are playing it that way, but watching Sean and Roxy "in love" is painful. I see no chemistry or connection between them and it all feels so forced.
I am thinking it is being played that way. Obviously Sean doesn't "love" Roxy and I don't think Roxy is capable of being deeply in love with anyone. If it isn't being played that way it is some of the worst acting I have ever seen on the Square.
I honestly can't wait for it to be over with because watching it makes me cringe.
I would never pre-suppose to know what Sean's thinking. But I'm with you on it being played that way Sky. Roxie plays Sean the same way she plays Ronnie, we just don't know whether Ronnie or Sean will finally win custody of Roxie. She's not convincingly loyal to her sister and she's not convincingly loyal to Sean. Oh, the angst. She bailed out on her father. She's bailed on her sister more recently.
When she's trying to be sincere it's the same level of sincerity; it doesn't matter whether it's towards Sean or Ronnie. It's the same half baked, half convincing look ad nauseum. As though she is playing it that way purposely. No?
She is loyal to one thing and that is the constant bail out she gets from Ronni. She knows that she can do what ever she wants and Ronni will move heaven and earth to fix it for her. She knows how far she can stretch the relationship without breaking it. I think she is just playing both of them so that she can be the center of attention. She will never get that kind of protection from Sean, he will only get her in more trouble, if that indeed is possible.
ROXY and Sean decide to secretly tie the knot, but they haven't reckoned on Ronnie. She shows up at the registry office, determined to stop her sister's wedding!
As the week opens, Stacey is the first to hear about the hush-hush nuptials. She is visiting Sean when Roxy bursts in wearing a 1980s-style wedding dress. The couple ask her to keep quiet as they don't want Ronnie to find out. "Roxy knows Ronnie hates Sean and will try to break them up," explains Rita Simons, who plays the bride-to-be.
But when Sean gets cold feet and does a bunk, it looks like there won't even be a wedding for big sister Ronnie to ruin! Gutted Roxy looks for her fiancé, and eventually tracks him down at Pat's. There, Sean reveals the reason for his reservations. "Sean is scared their child is going to grow up to be insane like his mum Jean," adds Rita. "He's not sure if he can stick around to see that."
Roxy tries to convince Sean that everything will be fine, and leaves him to make up his mind about the wedding warning that she'll go ahead with it, even if she has to get someone to fill in for him! After an anxious wait at the registry office, Roxy is relieved when Sean finally arrives but he is in a terrible state! "Roxy's so glad, but he looks like a tramp," grins Rita. "She tells Bradley to give Sean his suit. Bradley's left in his pants!"
As the ceremony starts, there is another delay as a raging Ronnie storms in, intent on stopping her sister. She tears up the wedding certificate and a big row breaks out. Will she prevent Roxy from becoming the new Mrs Slater?
As always, I seem to be the one at the other end of the couch. I thought the scenes in Tuesdays episode were sweet. Sean really looked happy and it was nice to see him laughing...and crying for that matter. I do have to draw the line at the phrase "lady garden". It was a cute scene other than that though.

Well, I'm glad that at least someone is enjoying this storyline
Isn't funny how we all love the same show, yet can't always agree on storylines ??????

I liked it as well, Spurs...I must be at your end of the Couch.
I have no problems with others liking it. After all, makes the conversations interesting and for some, there's no accounting for taste. I just have to learn to live with that
As I have been watching though I think the reason Roxie is so loved up has nothing to do with Sean. It is more her breaking away from her sister and also convincing herself that the baby can't be Jack's. She is creating a world where it will be Sean's baby and being with him helps that fantasy.
It is almost like the writers have forgotten that there is a possibility that the baby is Jack's....which is why I am sure that it will be. They lull you into a false sense of security and then BAM! I can't wait for those fireworks....
