Coronation Street bosses are hoping viewers have bad memories after sneaking in a previous star to play a new role. The last time Madhav Sharma was seen in the soap he played corner shop boss Dev Alahan's father. Now he's set to appear later this month as Prem Mandel, an entrepeneur who befriends Dev and takes him under his business wing. Viewers last saw Madhav as Ranjiv Alahan at his son's wedding in October 2004. Then he disappeared from sight and has only been in touch by telephone.

Madhav will figure in one of Corrie's best storylines of the year when Dev does the dirty on him and starts having an affair with his wife..

I thought he looked familiar... to be honest though, I'm not sure I would have recognised him as Dev's dad, so I guess the Corrie people made the right decision.

I'm glad there's a new storyline for Dev though - he's been quiet for too long and a love interest will bring his character back to life.

I didn't recognize him either. But the idea of him having an affair with his ex-father's wife makes my skin crawl.
