I wonder how that will affect emergency situations? The fact that these measures wouldn't have affected the outcome of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie shouldn't be ignored either...

I'm still not sure how this is supposed to help, and what about people that don't have internet? A lot of older folks don't have that. This is the first I've heard of this, I would have thought there would be more warning that this was coming.

LOL!! Duh, it totally didn't register. Chalk that one up to early senility. LOL! It still doesn't explain how it'll work for folks that don't have an internet. Wonder if they can get a form at the post office or a form mailed to them.

From what I understand, the information requested is exactly the same as that entered onto a visa waiver document that many people fill out upon entry into the US.

The only difference now is that they are asking for the same information in advance, so that they can vet the potential visitor.

There are plenty of potential problems I can foresee though. I wonder what they will do if someone is 'rejected'? Will the authorities contact you before you travel? I can imagine terrible problems if you arrive at the border and get turned back. Are they also expecting people to do this before booking a flight? What happens if you are declined - will the airline re-imburse you?

For those of us living in Canada, I suspect we will be excluded, as the amount of cross border travel is huge.

I guess we'll find that all out beforehand. Perhaps they'll have those forms at the travel agents. Maybe they don't have enough time to put all the names through the "do not enter the country" list?

Not sure if my brother will be able to navigate that ruling - he's a bit slow, and I'll be the one organizing his flight - wonder if I'll be able to fill in the form for him...!

Another stupid US way of controlling everyone.

Hmmmm...interesting that they are wanting to get this done in six months. Right before November when there is obviously going to be a major changing of the guard. I have a feeling this is a last ditch attempt by the Bush Administration to "protect" us. I also foresee this being gone along with him in six months.
