be interesting to check the new site - you could make such a wicked site for him, the amount of content you could have would be amazing, be nice if he had a blog on it, he should looking into doing some webcasts - they could be like his radio show but he could talk about respect etc ... didn't his site come in the top ten or something of some computer magazine political websites? maybe this will get it up to first place
i must admit i haven't checked it for ages, with here and spiderednews i can't imagine theres anything on there that isn't elsewhere! |

That's true, but as far as I can tell there isn't anything on spiderednews that isn't also elsewhere. Isn't it just a collection of stuff from other websites? |

Spiderednews does have a certain theme and leaning though, which is what makes it individual. |

yeah, but thats why i like it - its a good collection of bits and pieces from all over, mainstream sources, independent news, blogs, youtube vids etc, i quite often see bits on there that i've missed elsewhere. spidered for me is the equivalent of the news roundup, i can look through, read the little intro bits and check out the full story if i want, plus they always have galloway news and details of any protests etc
the only downside with it is i'd prefer when you click on a link that it didn't reload all the spidered menu in the new window at the top and on the left, a small frame at the top with the spidered branding would be enough i reckon - its rare i ever click anywhere else from those pages, you just close the story and go back to the main page. |

I was just looking at spiderednews and see that, this week, a link has been changed to a Galloway video I uploaded to youtube (channel 4 news in february) to one where someone has downloaded my version and tried, badly, to overwrite the logo that I put on it and then uploaded it again.
It's a funny old world... |

Yep... It is a funny old world.
To be precise, the "spider" found an additional copy of the video (the original Couchtripper video from Feb was still on SpideredNews, but further down the sort order on the page due to the older date when it was spidered).
Shows that search engines are fallible -- they can't account for quality. Sure the same thing happens on Google or Yahoo search engines. After all, they also "spidered" the new video.
Anyway, the spoofed video has been replaced with the Couctripper original now. The couchtripper video is now in two categories (at the top) : George Galloway and South America.
Doubt if any of the other search engines would have listened to this thread -- and that is part of the uniqueness of SpideredNews. |

Kate, Thanks for highlighting this out.
Note to self : Contact Google, Yahoo, MSN search engines and tell them to pack up and go home since all their info is just a collection of stuff from other sites.
Better short those stocks .. quick .. before Kate's insight catches on. |

Thanks Luke for the feedback. This has been put on the to-do / wish list. |

Does this mean that you don't actually do anything, but leave it all to automated systems to provide the content?
Spiders from yahoo and google are in here every day btw. |

I didn't quite mean it like that... but Google, Yahoo and MSN do actually have unique content - it's merely their search engines that collate information from other sites - so I don't know what that comparison was all about.
However, if were having a sarc-off then what you could do is pen a note to yourself reminding you to contact those websites and tell them about your brilliant bloat-code that makes it impossible to hover the cursor over the website without a slightly bigger version of the same picture popping up and annoyingly obscuring the thing the visitor is trying to read. I'm sure they'd be very interested in acquiring the rights to that stroke of genius. |

The origins and main force behind people using google is the spidering of 3rd party content. What is behind the search engine's success is 3rd party content.
Yahoo and MSN are trying to play catch-up to google on the search engine side, because that is the side which drives the business.
That is the area which SpideredNews.com operates in. |
