There was a rally for the people of Gaza today in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I helped organize it. Despiet the cold weather, the turnout was not too bad for something planned as an emergency action (about 100 people, many from the local Palestinian community). I wrote a song for the event called "Walls" -- here is the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxg8gyHvXaU

Our sound system was really playing up, so here are the lyrics in case you can't catch them in the video:

Walls

Been going through my mind, lately a lot
Have many questions about what I’ve been taught
Nothing’s as clear as it used to seem
As I stand idly by while humanity screams

Refrain: I can’t sit on the fence anymore
When I have to choose between peace and war
And object to oppression where it arises
No matter what else it is disguised as

Something has to be done
Don’t know where to begin
Walls are meant to frame houses
Not trap people in

I’ve been told I should be ashamed,
I answer, “don’t do this in my name.”
I will acknowledge we’re of the same tribe
But in this case, I must step aside
Refrain

I weep for the children, the women, the men
Who face the same hardships again and again
Generations spent under a regime
Where freedom exists only in a dream
Refrain

We share the same blood
So I can’t understand
Why we have to keep killing
Over a piece of land
(We’re the sons and the daughters of Abraham)
Refrain

Not trap people in
Not trap people in
And it’s time to begin

I'll post some more stuff from the rally after I get it all online.

It was indeed very cold -- around -20 celcius, but compared to the weather we were having earlier this week, it felt much warmer! It was -47 with the windchill at one point. We considered postponing the rally, but decided against it. Nonetheless, it did feel cold out there, and it was very difficult to play with my fingers freezing!

oh ! I think it was a long time ago that middle germany was that cold as a rule. For me the coldest here was -26°C. As cold as ever I've been but an oven compared to -47. A warm oven that still froze the hairs in my nose Smile
