Foreign Fighters in Iraq Are Tied to Allies of U.S.
BAGHDAD — Saudi Arabia and Libya, both considered allies by the United States in its fight against terrorism, were the source of about 60 percent of the foreign fighters who came to Iraq in the past year to serve as suicide bombers or to facilitate other attacks, according to senior American military officials.
i wonder where this leaves bush's statement 'either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. from this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the united states as a hostile regime'
will bush call saudi arabia, ruled by his long time close friends and business partners, as 'hostile'?
so, most of the 9/11 hijackers were from saudi arabia, most of the foreign fighters are from saudia arabia, women who are raped in saudi arabia are punished ... but they have oil, so they're our best friends and we roll out the red carpet
Bush cares nothing about people .. he only cares if he controls the government (puppets) or they just tow the line (like Britain).
He realises he is always disliked by the people, so that line about harbouring terrorists is just another propaganda tool to overthrow governments he doesn't like
good point, there's obviously a much grander strategy in all of this. Iraq was ostensibly the perfect country to invade, with the ultimate aim of reshaping the middle east in Western financial and political interests. Its clearly taken a massive set-back and quite strikingly the reason why there is now debate in the media about the invasion, is because its largely focussed on the incompetancy, and the catastrophic lack of planning, not the illegality or morality..
So essentially the presumptions don't change. All the US's alliances in the middle east are entirely strategic and geared towards quite explicit aims of domination, any serious media outlet not part of a 'propaganda model' would seek to stress this point to its viewers.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with Iran, this one isn't even dressed up as humanitarian because that ex post facto pretext fell apart with Iraq, which is falling apart now. This will have to be based on a serious threat to the US, via Israel. Which is what the adminitration is pushing. Of course no mention of the repeated attempts at normalising US-Iran relations from Iranian reformists, but you wouldn't expect that, just doesn't coincide with a set-out narrative. Its amazing the collusion between the MSM and governments, when you seriously look into it!!
