From Islamophobia Watch:
Quote: | The Washington Post reports that Donald Rumsfeld argued that their inherent laziness makes Muslims susceptible to terrorist propaganda. In an internal memo from May 2004 the then US Defense Secretary wrote that oil wealth had detached Muslims "from the reality of the work, effort and investment that leads to wealth for the rest of the world. Too often Muslims are against physical labor, so they bring in Koreans and Pakistanis while their young people remain unemployed," he wrote. "An unemployed population is easy to recruit to radicalism."

The original article is very interesting, too. Various snippets from internal memos where he says all sorts of insane, arrogant things. What a complete tool. |

Total rubbish. For example, Turks are v. hard and prepared to travel to find work (and that is one of the reasons Turkey joining the European Community is being blocked).
The vast majority of Muslims are actually POOR. The minority who are rich from oil have the US / Britain to thank for that (since the history of the Middle East is about the West picking puppets to run the countries to ensure the West made the most profits from the oil). |

He's pretty dull now in my opinion. I can't think of one person who takes him seriously anymore. Even people I knew who were supporters of him in the earlier years have disowned him now. |

Typical right wing drivel. "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" and all that. Only this time it's not a shot at the poor, but at an entire religion.
I'll have to catch up on the news to see what happened to that lawsuit in France. Anybody know? |
