Bless that poor families heart. I couldn't even imagine. What a terrible tragedy. I hope they are able to get all the help they need. |

There was a documentary out there about this girl. I've seen it on Discovery Channel. Beautiful in every way. Pretty blonde hair, just no face, or should I say it's all mangled. |

May God have mercy on this child.
Few months ago, BBC Horizon aired a docu called The World's first Face Transplant. Although this kind of treatment is still in a very early stage (still in experimental stage), I hope she gets well soon with the help of similar/other treatment. |

That poor child - to get her face looking anywhere near normal she's going to go through a lot of pain and trauma. |

When I was in the hospital with Brian I saw a documentary in this disorder. It is really amazing. The strange thing for me with this case is that USUALLY Treacher Collins is genetic and you can see evidence of it in the generations prior. With a case this severe you would think one of the parents would show signs. It really is a fascinating disorder and the treatments are amazing. Check out this site for more info:

I saw the same documentary on the Discovery Health Channel. As Marcella said, it is an inherited genetic disorder -- perhaps the couple didn't have genetic testing before they started a family, or Treacher-Collins isn't part of the genetic testing profile?
Anyway, I wish the best for the darling little girl. |

Plastic surgery is so amazing these days that I'm hoping they can really do something for this little girl. Hopefully the parents gets some genetic counselling as well so they never have to go through something like this again. |
