there's no way without getting your doo-dahs sorted...
If a copy doesn't turn up in the next few days then I could transfer the VHS if you were up for posting it though... |

There must be a better way than that. We can't do that forever. What do-dahs would I need? |

You can get a tv capture card for about 30-40 quid - you'd plug the Scart/svhs output from the video player into the computer... it's not something you can pick up in a couple of days though. But if you want to start a thread in the web-media section I'll go through it. |

Popinjay, your VHS recording may come in useful. Still hopeful version would provided via the producers or TV channel.
These could be useful if the show is on terrestrial Freeview (which I don't think it is).
I don't think Sky boxes have fire-wire output interface, otherwise a direct fire-wire link to a computer might have worked.
An alternative is to link audio/video out from your VCR to a computer, but not many computers have audio/video in.
I will mention one alternative : a digital VCR, which has an inbuilt hard disk, and which has an inbuilt CD or DVD drive. Unsure how well these compress the output, i.e. if any post-production is needed before uploading. |

how about chomsky torrents? isn't onebigtorrent still under development and just being tested by previous members at the moment? i guess if you added it to chomskytorrents then when the new site if officially launched they might just move stuff over ... |

Meanwhile, while folks work on better copies, there's a very low-res version of the May 21 show available from EvilGoblin--
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2L0ePL-brxw
It's just barely watchable, but it lets us see what the show is like. |

it's barely loading up for me - I see the first frame and by the looks of it, whoever did it filmed their tv with a video camera? I'm speechless if that's the case, but it's better than nothing to give it a look anyway... cheers |

Thanks for the link DavidGig.
Admittedly I'm only 5 minutes into it as I'm typing this, but I have to say that it looks pretty nondescript. I was hoping it would be more like a chatshow with a studio audience and some guests walking on and sitting on a couch.
It looks like they made it on a very limited budget and the production values and directorial cueing is terrible.
No offence to George, and I know Raj TV isn't exactly swimming in funding, but gad damn! |

thought some might be interested in this ... it appears you can get georges show without signing a contract with the devil [ murdoch ]
Quote: | I will probably set up a FORUM page at some point in order to show people how simple and inexpensive it is to get and set up a so-called Free-to-Air(that also means free to watch...) satellite system(=non-SKY..no connection to Murdoch at all).
The British people are probably the most satellite-illiterate in Europe - most Brits have been easily hoodwinked over the past 15-20 years into believing that, by definition:
"Satellite TV = "SKY TV" = Murdoch dependency etc.
Yes, Al Jazeera´s FOUR - yes four - satellite channels are available "free to air" outside the "Sky platform", without SKY equipment or cards or subscriptions of any kind.
As is Galloway´s show - something which even Galloway doesn´t appear to understand.
So to is Democracy Now - as a radio broadcast at 16.00 Mon-Fri - although for a year or more(2004-6) it was actually broadcast as full free TV over Europe.
So: I recommend any of the 69 quid free-to-air receivers for example that are offered at http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/free.htm
They´re also very knowledgeable, keen to help and amongst the cheapest around. (I stress: I have no personal or business connection with this long-standing company whatsoever !)
You´ll also need an 80 cm round dish ...
and here´s my most important tip: ask for a
"0.3 LNB" (The LNB is the little signal-focusing horn that is stuck out in front of the dish on that protruding arm) You can find good 0.3 LNB´s for 12-15 quid here: http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/lnb.htm.
"0.3" is the "threshold" rating of the LNB - the lower the figure - eg 0.3 - the easier it is to pick up signals and the smaller the dish you´ll need.
I am typing this in my modest little abode in Spain: today I have watched Galloway, some Al Jazeera, listened to Democracy Now and enjoyed the Simpsons in German...
My entire system cost less than 100 pounds.
I pay no subscriptions at all.
In the UK I mounted my dish on a a parasol base and simply rotate the dish in order to access 3 different satellites.
My UK system cost even less - the free-to-air receiver cost 27 quid from LIDL (a "Potom SL65") and the 80 cm round dish cost 15 quid second hand from a TV/satellite installer.
All in all I can receive around 4000 non-SKY free TV channels and 1500 free radio channels - all digital. Admittedly the vast majority are not in English - but a moving picture speaks a thousand words etc - and I also do speak German as well as passable French, Spanish - so it helps to keep fluency alive. |
