| I don't believe that so much information was held back for the sake of some people's "good names". It doesn't make sense. If the nazis had accused me of all sorts I wouldn't be embarassed about it later - they've been shown to be animals, so how can what they said be embarassing? |

I agree with you faceless. I don't quite understand why they have been kept under wraps for such a long time. I also don't think this is a big thing as it won't really yield any great new insight! But that might just be my view ... |

I wonder if it might reveal how many "notable" Nazis ended up under the employment of US government after the war
(since I assume the notes also reveal the identity of the Germans who interacted with the victims). |

| there's a series that's just started on Friday evenings called "Ireland's Nazis" that tells how many high-up nazis were allowed to live in Ireland after the war. It's on at 9pm on the History Channel, but I missed last week's. I'll try to get it this time though... |

I wouldn't be surprised if there were new insights as a result of these files being released. It's just too early to tell.
On one hand, I can see how some victims might not want the grim details of their treatment to be public knowledge, but I'd doubt they'd been consulted. The decision was apparently made on their behalf. And others would probably not object in the interest of it contributing to the historical lesson. |
