Stained glass artist marks 9/11

A Dutch artist has included an image of the 11 September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in a stained glass window he designed for a cathedral. Marc Mulders said the image, one section of a 20-pane window showing representations of heaven and hell, was intended to depict "hell on earth". The pane shows an aeroplane flying into one of the twin towers. On Sunday, a bishop blessed the window at the Sint Jan cathedral in the Dutch city of Den Bosch.

"It was an assignment by the church to make a stained glass window that was related to the spirit of this time," Mr Mulders wrote on his website. Geert Jan van Rossem, pastor of the cathedral, said he expected the window would make people reflect. "Innocent civilians were killed, that is shocking and makes people think," he said.

I like this idea as it could be the only type of record that's left after armageddon!

While I am not liking each section of stain glass I do like the overall idea and composition.

I think it's an excellent idea. At first looking at it I didn't really like any of the designs too much, but after using my imagination a wee bit it's not too bad.

Everytime I see the word Armageddon I think of gerbils.

I like the idea, but to me, it breaks up the flow of the piece. Had they done the same in every slot, it would have made more sense. It looks to me like that particular square was an after thought.

That's too funny. "The 4 gerbils of the Apocalypse..."

Gives you the chills, huh? Laughing

There's a good parody somewhere in here, but I have a feeling Monty Python already harvested it with the rabbit in Holy Grail...

I must find that and post it in the video section of that radio bit 'ARMAGEDDON'! Laughing That was one of the funniest things I heard on the net and cracked me up from start to finish.

This is the one I'm talking about
