I thought this was quite a step myself. I'd much ratehr use Linix, but I've not got a clue about it apart from that it's far less intense on the system than windows and is far more reliable, but I'd like to give it a go if I knew that the software I want to use is compatible. |

That's a brilliant move. I've been tempted to use Linux on my other pc and still pondering the idea. After seeing that wee video I posted a while back it's had me interested. It seems so easy to use and from what I've read far more reliable for sure.
The one thing you mentioned is what has me a bit concerned....software compatibility. I might give it a go, and if I do I'll let you know in the Web section how it turned out. |

I run my own personal website on linux. It's rock solid, up and running for over 80 days without a reboot (and only then because there was a power outage over the x-mas holidays). Prior to that, I think the number was around 150 days.
As a desktop, it's not bad, but I have 2 machines so I mainly use windows for my everyday use. And it can be tricky to configure everything just how you like it. But that's part of the fun and once it works, it does so without fail.
For the record, I run Slackware.
My comment on the article: it only took them 12 years. |
