AN X-ray shows the 13-inch blade surgeons left inside Donald Church’s stomach.
Donald, 49, was in pain for two months after a tumour op. The metal was found after he went through airport detectors.
He won £53,000 in Seattle, US. His lawyer said: “It was the equivalent of missing a truck parked on your front lawn.”

Only £53,000? He should have got a hell of a lot more than that.
I wonder how it was possible for that to be left in the mans body? The surgeon was obviously a complete imbecile. |

I've heard of a similar case happening a lot closer to home. The lady set off the airport metal detector in that case too.
You'd think the 1st thing they teach you in surgery school is to count the large, sharp instruments BEFORE sewing up the patient. But what do I know? I never went to university for 7 years. |

It's not small, either if you look at it relative to his pelvis and spine. Geeez!!! I hope they never left anything in me after I had my appendix out. Although, I've been through enough airport security in the 20 years since that I'm sure if they had it would have been discovered by now. He he he. |

What amazes me is that he didn't die from internal bleeding. Something that big and sharp could've easily come into contact with something important.
Someone up there likes him, strange as it may sound. |

How much should he have got then? The regulation 345,678,910 dollars that people tend to sue for? I know people who have lost legs to get less than £53,000. |

£53,001 atleast
I'm actually not a fan of people suing others but since it's obvious negligence on the part of someone you put so much faith in. I feel he should be taken for everything he can. For something like that to be left inside a patient is a horrid neglect for their well being. I'm sure the surgeon had his mind on his last golf score. |

Actually, it's the nurses and OR techs who should hold some of the blame as well since they would have been obviously aware that this was there and not removed---- but of course, we might not be getting the whole story, |

I saw a docu on the Discovery Health channel called "When Surgical Tools Get Left Behind". Apparently, and sadly, this is not an uncommon occurrence. |
