Hope this is an ok question to ask here...
I'm getting more and more into mixing/looping music, and I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some decent software that would make it easier for me. So far I've been using pretty lame techniques with Roxio AudioCentral (which I think is only really designed for chopping the beginning or end off tracks).
Any advice, couchers? |

moved this in here as it's media tips...
I recommend Goldwave for editing samples - www.goldwave.com it's what I use for pretty much everything. |

what do you actually wanna do kate? for editing files, changing the volume, fading in, out, converting formats, certain effects etc, soundforge is the don, if you wanna mix say mp3's together - mixmeister is really good, or you want to make your own music with a mixture of samples and plug in instruments, like griffo recommends, fruityloops is wicked |

i like mixmeister very much, great for setting up party music, I've done 10 hrs with it, no repeats, ain't limewire great but anything after V5 is overblown in my opinion.
for editing and adding effects, I tried loads, bought gold wave , then found "cool edit pro", that was bought by adobe and is now called audition. It's up to v2, but that too is overblown, and I've settled on v 1.5.
need any of it, with an extended indefinite trial period let me know .. |

... I've used the older version of Cool Edit Pro for a few years now, it will do everything you mention plus loads more, I also use it for recording stuff from the net (streams) If anyone wants to give it a try I've uploaded it HERE

... yes, it's surprisingly small, although very powerful. |
