Excellent Final - loved Take That duet, and she really is a cut above the rest.

THe only thing is does the world need another Maria Carey? She sounds too much alike to be a distinctive sound and that may the only thing against her.

BTW: Edward C.....I can only echo Irish's comment. WTF?!!?

I thought she was brilliant throughout the whole series. I'm really glad to hear she won and I was almost positive she would.

Unfortunately I didn't get the show till late last night and made the mistake of coming into this thread and saw the result was posted. The result show is of course spoiled for me now and I probably won't bother watching it, but all in all the right person won and I'm glad to hear that.

I agree about what you said on Maria. We don't need another one for sure, and hopefully through coaching that can be worked on and she can form her own distinctive sound.

As far as what that 'person' said....blow it off like a bad fart. It's obviously meant to wind someone up but we'll just ignore it and let the smell ease off thumbs

Whitney: I'm going to make you a megastar

SUPERSTAR Whitney Houston has sent a message to X Factor champ Leona Lewis telling her she will help make her an international superstar.

The 43-year-old singer – who has had global smashes with I Will Always Love You and I Wanna Dance With Somebody – claims the former receptionist from London has the talent to be huge.

Chart-topper Whitney heard about Leona, 21, after word reached the star that her record label in the States was keen to sign the X Factor winner.

Bosses at J Records have already invited Leona to the US to discuss launching her in America and they sent Whitney some tapes of Leona’s performances on The X Factor. She was so impressed she has offered to mentor Leona.

Whitney’s career hit the skids when she developed a serious drug habit. She cleaned up and is now divorcing Bobby Brown, 37.

Last night a source said: “If anyone knows about the music business, it’s Whitney. Now she’d love to give Leona a helping hand.”

Bookies have closed the book on Leona having the Christmas No1 with A Moment Like This. A Ladbrokes spokesman said: “It’s all over bar the coronation of the new Queen of Pop.”

________________________________________________

That's brilliant that Leona is getting serious attention. She's unbelievably talented and seems a down to earth person and deserves every bit of good that comes her way.

I have no doubt whatsoever that she'll be known internationally and as popular as the biggest acts out there.

Good on her thumbs

pointr ...wonder if Ray has been hired to be one of the 7 dwarfs in the broadway musical Snow White yet?

Walsh unhappy with 'X Factor' changes

Louis Walsh has complained that he has been "stabbed in the back" after being axed from The X Factor.

The music mogul, who was a judge on the show for three years, also claimed that Simon Cowell and ITV misled ex-host Kate Thornton by assuring her that she would not be replaced for the fourth series.

"It was a bad move sacking Kate. She was like a mother figure for all the acts. She will be a big loss," Louis told The Sun. "It was made worse because Simon and ITV kept telling Kate she was safe, that she'd be staying. But it would seem Simon's word is not his bond.

"I was really shocked, I have to admit that. I did feel like I had been stabbed in the back. With Simon, it's all about work. He told me, 'It's nothing personal.'"

However, Simon Cowell has insisted that he wanted Walsh and Thornton to return for another series, but the final decision rested with ITV.

"Much like Coronation Street, we have to make changes to a long-running hit show - and sometimes, the most popular people have to go," Cowell explained. "Louis has been in discussions about the commitment he could offer, and he was so busy with his management career. It just worked out that it would be better if we got a new judge.

"I did put up arguments for Louis and Kate to stay, but ITV put up their arguments for them to go and it was their ultimate decision."

I'm completely gutted Louis is gone. Kate I expected but I don't get why they did this. It's a really bad decision as far as I'm concerned.

DEVASTATED X Factor judge Louis Walsh has ripped into Simon Cowell for sacking him from the show — and revealed their 10-year friendship is now in tatters. Telling his full story for the first time, the music manager raged: "I have been completely shafted by Simon. He has told me bare-faced lies about my future and, worst of all, he didn't have the balls to tell me personally that I was going." In an exclusive interview with the News of the World Louis also claimed Simon:

# LIED about ITV making the decision to shake up the show

# FOOLED sacked host Kate Thornton into thinking her job was safe

# REFUSED to call devastated Kate to explain his decision.

Louis, 54, said: "The format works, so why change it? The audience is used to the same panel coming back each year. The only change is that Simon gets new teeth and bigger boobs." Even loudmouth Sharon Osbourne, who Louis describes as "THE" star of the show, was in danger of losing her place on the judging panel, according to an insider. He said: "There was concern about her age. But Simon feels she is box office and people tune in to watch her."

Louis revealed he learned his fate on Wednesday after Cowell had sent him to Stockholm, Sweden, to meet songwriters penning tracks for the new series. He was standing in a hotel lobby when a call came through on his mobile from X Factor executive producer Richard Holloway. Louis said "I never expected in a million years to hear that I was being sacked. Richard was very upfront. He said, ‘We've got bad news, you're not going to be a judge any more'. It was totally unexpected. Just a week before, I'd been sitting in Simon's home in LA talking about what we'd do with the new series. We were talking about who should be the fourth judge. I even suggested some names like Chris Moyles.

"That's what sticks in my throat—Simon went on like it was business as usual. Why did he send me to Stockholm and have me working on the series if he didn't want me judging? I have spoken to him since and he has offered me another show. He blames ITV for my leaving, but I don't believe for a second that this has anything to do with them. Simon controls everything about X Factor. This has everything to do with him."

Louis said he's also devastated for Kate. Her future looked shaky in October last year, but Cowell, 47, reassured her there was no plot to dump her. Louis said: "Simon had a long chat with her and told her to ignore the reports. He said there'd be no changes, but then the carpet was pulled from under her. She's very upset and feels really humiliated. She wants to speak to Simon but he hasn't even called to wish her well."

I'd be interested to know what Sharon's opinion is on Louis being sacked.

Thing is, the constant bickering between the 3 of them has just got out of hand, and instead of it being about the talent it's been about the judges. It's like they pick on each other and the acts suffer for it, and that's why so many good singers were voted off. It gets far too personal and that frustrates the viewing public I'm sure. I know it frustrates the hell out of me.

No matter who else they get the same thing will happen. Once they get comfy in their role they'll go head to head and it's what ruins the show for me. I don't mind a bit of back and forth but they all just go too far.

yeah, it's a pile of pish really, though I do reckon it's more than likely that Cowell did have a good hand in getting rid of both Walsh and what's her face thornton. They should have got rid of her years ago though if you ask me...

I thought they were going to sack her before the last series ended and I was really looking forward to it. She got on my nerves and it got to the point just seeing her face wrecked my head.

I think it was a good decision to sack her but I really liked Louis on the show, although a good few of his comments last series really bothered me and I could see him reaching a new low. He picked on that wee Ray lad far too much to the point it was effecting his performances, but they all did that to each others acts and that's what is so wrong about the whole thing.

Ben Shephard exits X Factor
May 02, 2007

BEN Shephard has quit the X Factor, TV Biz can exclusively reveal. The hunk — who fronted ITV2 spin-off the Xtra Factor — is said to have been upset Dermot O’Leary was picked to replace axed Kate Thornton on the main show over him. The GMTV presenter, 32, will now host new BBC1 Saturday night show Dance X — the hunt for a new version of 1970s dance troupe Hot Gossip.

Last night an X Factor insider said: “Ben was not that happy when Dermot got the job. He thought he should get a shot.” Producer and judge Simon Cowell was a keen supporter of Ben — who has fronted the Xtra Factor for the last three series. Kate and show judge Louis Walsh were sacked from the ITV1 talent show in March. Dannii Minogue will be a new judge, while show chiefs are still hunting for a fourth.

A source close to Ben denied that he quit in anger about Dermot, saying: “That’s not the case at all. Ben’s been friends with Dermot for years — they did T4 together.” Ben’s spokesman said: “He wishes the X Factor’s entire production nothing but the best.” An X Factor spokeswoman said: “Ben has done a terrific job.”

Music mogul Louis Walsh has been invited back as a judge on the new series of The X Factor, months after he stepped down from the role. "It's not a rumour, it's true," Walsh told BBC Radio One. "I'm starting on Monday in Manchester."

Several auditions for the ITV talent show have already been filmed with Walsh's replacements Dannii Minogue and choreographer Brian Friedman.

Walsh says he will be taking Friedman's place for the rest of the show's run.

"I'm the fourth judge," he told the BBC News website. "It's going to be Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Dannii and me."

"I think they've given Brian some kind of title behind the camera."

ITV confirmed that Friedman would become the show's creative director, coaching contestants in choreography and styling.

Walsh, who manages chart-topping boy band Westlife and X Factor winner Shayne Ward, was dropped from the programme in March this year, along with host Kate Thornton.

His links with the show were not entirely severed - as he was expected to manage this year's winner.

Auditions for the fourth series of X Factor are already underway
But the Irishman, 55, raged against the decision, telling Graham Norton he was "knifed in the back".

He also said Simon Cowell, whose SyCo production company owns the rights to X Factor, was a "coward" for not breaking the news in person.

"I got sacked and I threw all the toys out of the pram," Walsh told the BBC News website.

"But when they started having auditions, Simon and Sharon were texting me to tell me they missed me.

"Then I was asked to be part of Simon's appearance on This Is Your Life, and he said, 'I wish you were back on the show again'."

Walsh says he finally received a call from the show's executive producer, Richard Holloway, on Wednesday asking him to come back.

"I just got my old gig back," he said.

"We are thrilled to have Louis back to the X Factor," said Paul Jackson, ITV's Director of Entertainment and Comedy.

"Viewers will see the story unfold on screen when the series returns later in the year."
