For those not on the georgegalloway.com mailing list, this came through today;
Friends,
As you may know we are intent on getting the single War by Tony
Blair's old band Ugly Rumours into the charts in the week after the
big Stop the War demo in London (Feb 24). You can register for the
chart download now by texting (if in Britain) peace1 to 78789. Do it
and it will be the biggest humiliation ever and will show the depth of
feeling against Blair and this illegal war. The cost of the download
is £1.50.
All of the profits on the single go to the Stop the War Coalition
If you are not in Britain go to www.uglyrumours.com where you can
download the single.
This is a musical referendum on Blair and the illegal war.
Please send this message or your own individual one to all of your
friends and contacts.

I wonder how its doing, hope it gets to number one, i've already ordered it on itunes in december, does that mean it still counts?
i think so yeah, it seems so far all these have been pre-orders to go through when its released, so fingers crossed that over the couple of months they've been promoting it the sales will be enough to get it to no 1
shame we don't have top of the pops anymore really!

Unless it gets the 5000 downloads George was asking for on the weekend, it won't even get to number twenty. Number one is a pipedream.
I just watched the whole thing for the first time and my immediate thought after seeing "death's in Iraq" was "Who the hell did the titles for that?!", but then my interest was piqued by the mysterious blond copper... and what a disappointment to see who it was!
It was a good laugh though, with all aspects of the production showing out well. I especially thought the camerawork was good, but that's probably taking it too far...
