Where do people on this board get their News/Information from?? Sometimes I notice Sky News/BBC can be biased! I find CNN world to be more reliable. I know Channel 4 News is OK, and how about newspapers, forget the SUN, Times etc! I find the independent pretty impartial.

Seems that my favourite "weather man", Everton Fox is off to Al Jazeera, shame ...

I do get my news from BBC, C4, Sky etc. But I try to get headlines first, then anticipate the story, then try to filter out the crap as I read/see the story.

I think it's essential for people to read the mainstream media - it's really important in seeing how the system tries to shape how we think.

But also, places like http://www.socialistworker.co.uk and Information Clearing House are excellent.

These days, I get 99% of my news from the web. I check CBC, CTV, the Guardian, and BBC at least once in the morning, and once before bed. I also regularly check The Independent, Al Jazeera and some others at least once per week. Between the many sources, you can usually piece together the actual news. What I find interesting are the differences that pop up.

When I'm forced to watch the news on TV, I find it a painful experience, full of fluff stories about "dog who saves his owner by waking him up when the house is on fire" and so on.

We had a story posted about a puppy being cooked in an oven yesterday in the news section - it made me feel good when I saw the replies though.
