POLITICIANS LIFTED AT FASLANE
SEVERAL politicians - including MEPs and a Dutch MP - were arrested yesterday outside the Faslane naval base on the Clyde. A Welsh Assembly Member was also held as a group tried to chain themselves together at the entrance to the base. They were among around 30 politicians from different parties who joined protesters staging a year-long demo. Among them were SNP deputy leader Nicola Sturgeon and Socialist MSPs Rosie Kane and Carolyn Leckie.
Police moved in just after 11am to remove the small group who had lain down at the gates to the nuclear submarine base. Among those arrested were Plaid Cymru AM Leanne Wood and Dutch MP Krista Van Velzen Sturgeon repeated her party's stance against the decision to replace Trident. She said: "I think the majority of Scots are opposed to the billions of pounds that are going to be spent on these weapons."

Nicola Sturgeon runs her weekly "clinic" in the room right next to me in this building where I'm doing my course - I didn't think she had it in her to go this far, so it's good to see.
The weapons of mass-destruction at Faslane have been shown to be absolutely illegal by the highest Scottish court - The Court Of Session - and the sooner they are removed the better... |

Any word on when will they be removed and how were they able to get away with having them there in the first place? |

Those are some excellent questions Irish.
I find nuclear weapons as something that should be gotten rid of in all countries. They are nothing but evil. And for any place to have them it should be seriously looked at and everything that cane be done to get rid of them should be done. |

Indeed so Skylace. There's only one reason for them and it's all the wrong reasons. They represent nothing but disaster and catastrophe for mankind and they all should be gotten rid of as far as I'm concerned. |

The reason these illegal WMDs are still kept here is because the Scottish parliament doesn't have power over defence decisions. It's one reason why we need independence from the UK... |

One reason among so many why independence is so important, and if the Scottish parliament has to wait for those pieces of shit to make a decision to protect THEIR OWN COUNTRY then that should drive everyone even harder on the issue.
How god damn pathetic! |
