BORUC'S WAS BETTER
By Hugh Keevins
PAT BONNER saved a penalty from Daniel Timofte at Italia 90 that set him up for life and put Ireland into the last eight of the World Cup. But the keeper who was voted the most popularman in Ireland after the defining moment of his career says the penalty save Artur Boruc made for Celtic against Manchester United striker Louis Saha in the Champions League topped that life-changing moment. And now the man who wore Celtic's jersey 607 times and had 243 shut-outs has tipped the Pole as one of the reasons Celtic will get their first away victory in the Europe's premier competition when they play FC Copenhagen in Denmark tomorrow.

Boruc is widely regarded by the Celtic supporters who idolise him as the best keeper the club has had since Bonner hung up his gloves in 1994. And the last-minute save Boruc produced to deny Russell Anderson in Celtic's 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday could have added a championship-winning moment to his stop from Saha. Now Bonner has thrown his weight behind the claim Boruc could become a Celtic legend.
