A CONTRACEPTIVE pill for men that can be taken just hours before sex has been developed by British scientists.

The revolutionary tablet would stop men being able to get a woman pregnant for a few hours ? after which fertility would return to normal.

It could be taken daily or as a one-off just before a date.

It would not affect sexual satisfaction and would not have to be taken over the long term.

Other ?male Pills? in development alter hormone levels to turn off sperm production, but cause side-effects like hot flushes and moodiness.

The hormone methods usually come as injections, implants and patches.

Instead, the new Pill ? developed by Kings College London ? contains chemicals that prevent ejaculation.

It could be on the market in five years and could generate massive income for the university.

Annual world sales of the female Pill are worth ?21billion a year.

It will appeal to women with concerns about the Pill, which can raise stroke risk, heart attacks and blood clots.

Contraception expert Professor John Guillebaud hailed the new male Pill as ?a brilliant discovery?.

Men shooting blanks is a brilliant idea. Women have been concerned for years with all the bad side effects from taking the pill, and the bloating alone is a biatch! Let men have water retention for a change yaaaaaahoooo dancer

It will be interesting to see the effectiveness rate of this pill being proved. Short of doing a physiology lesson, I have to wonder how effective it will be. I'm sure if it was used ideally, it could be quite good, but I don't think the average guy is going to use it that good. Sounds like it would have a few drawbacks..... but on the whole, it's nice to let the guys have some of the responsibility.

Good point. I suppose I'd trust a man to take it with me shoving it down his throat.

I can put your name as your sig so you remember it and don't have to type it all the time? Razz

I know this guy called Alan Anderson who's a fairly well known figure in the Scottish live comedy scene who has, for YEARS, been talking about how he's been a guinea-pig for this pill... and if you ever wanted someone to not have babies, it's him!

That there is the problem....

Sorry & all that but no ejaculation ='s total disatisfaction for men & some women.

I have been on enough medications for my heart / pain etc to know a few side-effects of drugs, one being sex & no ejac'....
crazed

Sure, the feeling (orgasm) is there to an extent, but not quite, for a man to fully orgasm he needs some form of ejaculate gushing up / down the pipes.
agree

OK, I did a little research on this pill, and from what I've read, it doesn't actually stop ejaculation, but rather stops the actual sperm production. So good news from some, I guess!

@ eefanincan...

In that case it must kill the sperm already present in the testicals also, or at least mess with them to such an extent that they can't "Home in" on the egg.

Now comes the MORAL Question...
Is this ethical?

With the world up in arms about killing a fetus & such things as frozen sperm, frozen eggs etc...
Surely this would be seen worse than say "The morning after pill"?

(The wife wonders if they can add some 'falvoring' to it also as the idea of dead sperm & cells don't sound tasty).

According to some, taking the female birth control pill isn't ethical. So this could be debated forever.

I find it perfectly ethical. Unused sperm dies anyway and is absorbed back into the body. Since men are constantly producing them and there is no way they can ever use them all (unlike women who have a set number, that it and once you're done, you're done) I wouldn't see it as unethical at all.

Forget the pill! Try this on for size!

The inventors of the SprayKondom hope it will help prevent sexually transmitted deseases and unwanted pregnancies by providing an easy, shake-and-spray contraceptive barrier. For more on this one, I will introduce you to excerpts from Babelfish's translation of the Product Page and be on my way. If you feel need to flee at any point while reading it, please run in a different direction to the one I took.

The new condom comes from the spray can and adapts to each member optimally. Cap off and condom over the Penis spray: The Latexhaut sits perfectly and is operational in few seconds. ... The advantages of the spray condom are obvious: it is easily and fast applicable, adapts to each Penisgroesse. Damage by transport or sun exposure belongs then exactly the same to the past like the question of the disposal: The natural rubber product decomposes and becomes humus. Thus the spray condom functions. ... Similarly as with the Deodorant we with aerosol liquid Latex sprayed on the Penis ... has the characteristic to vulcanize at room temperature. The india rubber changes thus from the plastic into the flexible condition and becomes in few seconds, rubber. ... Still condom testers are looked for, which already gained experience in handling condoms.

Suffice to say, this is ingenious-- though, surely, sucess will depend on whether the user can competently lay down a thick enough spray. Advertising it with mock-up cans that resemble gaily-colored dildoes is, however, not the best way to get it into the hands of those who might actually use it.
