An Englishman is leaving Adelaide today to resume his charity trek across Australia, on a skateboard.
Dave Cornthwaite skated 2,700 kilometres across the Nullarbor from Perth to Adelaide, before injuring his foot in a freak accident.
Cornthwaite jumped on a piece of metal, forcing a two-week lay-off as he recovered in Royal Adelaide Hospital.
He says he is excited about resuming his skateboarding adventure from Belair.
"Australians have been amazing all the way from Perth, people are very interested in what we are doing," he said.
"We're not just going out and begging for money on the streets, we're actually really passionate about the project we are working on.
"And obviously it's pretty hard work as well, so I'm aiming to put 6,000 kilometres in total."
All on the same skateboard - he has had 6 sets of new wheels and three boards!!! |

"The Lowe Syndrome Trust is a small, family-run charity which works constantly to raise awareness about Lowe Syndrome and to fund research projects into the presently incurable disease.
Link Community Development's work in Sub-Saharan Africa has had an inspiring influence on my life and provides thousands of children with an improved education, giving many communities a central pivot that will last for many lifetimes.
Finally, through the sport of sailing Sailability Australia educates the broader community to the needs and attitudes of people with disabilities; it dispels many fears held by both the disabled and able bodied. Everyone is accepted for their ability and disability disappears as groups work and learn together."
