A 91-year-old man has received his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of New England in Armidale in north-east New South Wales.
Allan Stewart of Tea Gardens, north of Newcastle, completed the six year degree in four-and-a-half years because he says at his age time is of the essence.
He says the biggest hurdle he had to overcome was technology.
"I was self-taught in that respect," he said.
"There were some obstacles at first, but I was able to manage it and In the course I did, most of the work was done online and of course all of the assignments I had to do on computer and send it up to the university by electronic submission."
At least he can do himself a decent will!!!! |

Might be a bit out of order saying this, but what's the point?#
But yeah, well done to him? |

I think that's wonderful. It just shows you're never too old to learn or accomplish something. Just like Jessica Tandy learning to play the violin in her 80s. Don't ever stop! |

That's exactly it. I for one hope that I'm sharp enough and have enough energy at his age to be able to still do things like that! |

When I was at uni, I knew a 55 year-old woman who was working on her PhD in Pharmacology after retiring from a career as a registered nurse. Her reply to people who asked why not just enjoy your retirement? "I've always wanted to do a PhD in Pharmacology. I figure that I'm going to turn 60 in 5 years, so I can either turn 60 with a PhD or without one. I choose to turn 60 with my PhD."
I always that that was so cool -- a great message that you're never too old to try to pursue your passion. |

I don't know if it's the same in the UK but it used to be that here you could go to university for free after the age of 65. Don't know if they still do that, but I think a lot of people that age are retired and have more time to do these things.
There's a ton of things I'd love to learn but don't really have the time for. I plan to take advantage of this if it still exists when I'm 65. |
