CORRIE TUNE IS RIGHT UP OUR STREET
Thursday April 2,2009

The Coronation Street tune has been voted one of the sounds Britons most love to hear. The ITV soap’s strains, which have changed little since first played in 1964, came 10th in a survey by hearing aid seller Amplifon. Birdsong is the favourite noise, with Amplifon’s Mark Holmes saying: “Nature wins every time.”

The top 10 sounds, in order, are:
Birdsong,
children laughing,
heavy rain,
wind whistling through trees,
ice cream van jingles,
applause at cricket,
waves breaking,
saying “I love you”,
Big Ben chiming
and the Coronation Street tune.

----------------

That's quite some impact really.
