Union thwarts bid to ban Galloway from town hall meeting

TOWN Hall officials in East London today tried to stop MP George Galloway entering the building to address council staff about the situation in Gaza.
They asked the public sector workers’ union Unison to withdraw its invitation to Respect’s Bethnal Green & Bow MP to speak at their lunchtime meeting. But the union, which has previously played host to Labour’s Poplar & Canning Town MP Jim Fitzpatrick, refused to turn him away from Tower Hamlets council HQ at Mulberry Place in Blackwall.
Other speakers included the former secretary of Tower Hamlets Unison branch Jean Geldart and the council’s own Cabinet member for the environment Abdal Ullah.

I wonder who was responsible for this and what the reasons were?
