Totally agree with it. What it didn't mention in the story was that this lady has been with the council for 16 years.
Why should someone be forced into doing something they completely disagree with on their religious grounds??
I'm surprised she's lasted THAT long in politically correct Islington. Good on her.
Random enough for y'all? |

How can she claim being Christian as protection when she already presides over civil marriages which aren't Christian by definition?
I can smell the hypocrisy from here! |

"Christian as protection"? What protection?
I was waiting for your take on this and it's just as I expected, cue nekokate with something similar.
What is wrong with actually standing up and saying fuck off to something you believe in? |

The protection that has stopped her being sacked!
How about if she can't do the job through her own personal choice then the job should be given to someone who can? Old fashioned bullshit like hers has to be stamped out of public life. |

It's flattering that you post things like this in expectation of my response. Far be it from me to disappoint you.
There are also people who disagree with mixed race marriage on religious grounds, as well, but these days we call those people cunts. Roll on the day when this sort of homophobic shit is laid to rest, too.
As far as I'm concerned people who say "I'm not homophobic, I'm just disagreeing on religious grounds" are very blatantly saying "I'm not homophobic, I'm just homophobic".
Kind of like the BNP aren't racists, they just disagree on racial grounds.
Bat, go fuck yourself. But whatever you do don't try to marry yourself!!! That would make the baby Jesus cry. |

It's not about this woman's choice of belief - it's about the fact that it affects other people negatively in her government funded job. If she was just some ordinary fundamentalist Christian who refuses to accept that homosexuality is perfectly natural on her own time then there wouldn't be a problem... |

That was my take on it. What about the whole separation of church and state? Is that a factor in the UK? She is being paid by the government to do a job and is now refusing due to her personal, religious beliefs. Can't have your cake and eat it too! |

We don't have an official rule on it, but many people here think that we are a Christian country by definition. This isn't true though - with only 1m people attending Church regularly it's not realistic at all. |
