you know what gets me, the people in the crowd just don't get it bush, blair, perle, cheney, rumsfeld, wolfowitz etc - all those responsible for the war of aggression against irag should be hounded until they face trial
yeah, I'd guess a lot of those people in the crowd think that they're more american because they show respect to the President... these fools (they have been fooled at least) don't seem to be aware that blind obedience is the ultimate insult to the concept of republicanism.
I like the way Bush says "We enjoy free speech here in the USA" as people who are utilizing that very thing are being dragged away for speaking their minds. Irony.
Respect of the President is sorta like saluting in the military, you respect the office not the man. Having said that, I totally agree with the protesters. I think Bush has done a crap job and I am just marking off the days until he is the former President of the US. I love my counrty ( no matter what the international feeling is about us), but I can't wait for Bush to be gone. I am tired of the embarrassment and apologizing for his actions and his lack of command of the English language. I can't wait to see the back of him....
you don't have to apologise for his actions spurs, i don't equate what that crazy bunch does in the white house with the american people, like i wouldn't apologise for what our government does. i don't even blame the flag waving bunch - i just feel sorry for them, i see them as confused - ignorant. if you sat them down and gave them a big pile of books to read and undid the years of indoctrination and propaganda they'd realise how wrong they are

100% behind you Spurs and couldn't have said it better
Thanks for the thought, Face, but that would require me to be grown up and responsible for things and I just can't see that ever happening!!
I'm sure you could do a better job than the current incumbent. And he doesn't exude maturity and responsibility.
Wouldn't it be interesting if there were not politicians? That probably sounds communist, but I doubt there are 5% of them who truly have the best interests of the people at heart.

Haha!! That reminds me of a brilliant story about when Spike Milligan was in the army as a young man. There was one officer who was a complete twat and Spike would never salute him whenever they crossed paths on the training ground. He complained about it and the top general called Spike into his office to tell him off about it.
He made the same point that it's the uniform you're saluting, not the man. So after his telling off, Spike saluted the general, and on his way out of the office, stopped and saluted each of the five or six uniforms hanging in see-through laundry bags on the office wall.
thats reminded me of a story, my nan used to work at the mountbatten house in romsey - and they was all supposed to meet the queen, but my nan refused to bow to her go on nan!

That's very gutsy. What did the "royals" do? Ignore her?
no, because she had said she wouldn't bow - they didn't let her meet her. and when i say meet her, i mean stand in a line outside the house as the queen entered. so the queen missed out there

Thanks for that, Luke. It is because you are a smart guy, but there are so many out there that are not. For so many (and I am sure this is true of all countries), we are what is shown in the news, so the quicker he is gone, the better. When I quit my job and put in my 2 week notice, the company I worked for had me work out the day and then did not require me to work the 2 weeks (they said it was for security reasons)...can't we do that? Since we know that Bush will be done in January, can't we just not have him finish out his term for security reasons? Surely, there is no one who could do worse...
