These are some photos from last night's 'British Soap Awards'. I've no idea who won what, but it's the first time I've seen Barbara Windsor's husband... wtf? He must be young enough to be her grandson!

It makes me think of the 'Mrs Merton' interview where she asked Debbie McGee "so what was it that first attracted you to the old millionaire?'

Uuurgh.

It's Kara Tointon that really blew my mind. I did a double take. She looks so different from the character of Dawn. Much prettier.

I had to look twice as well to see that it was actually her.

Yep, Betsy Palmer was the actress that played the mother/killer in the first Friday the 13th!! There is only so much my brain can hold and I believe that I have hit my limit.

Coronation Street wins big at British Soap Awards
Sun May 04 2008

Coronation Street has picked up five prizes at the British Soap Awards. The soap's haul included a lifetime achievement award for veteran star Liz Dawn, who first appeared in the series in 1974 and bowed out this year when her character Vera Duckworth died of a heart attack.

The soap's haul included a lifetime achievement award for veteran star Liz Dawn. Accepting her award, she said: "I wish I was young again, I could do it all over again. It's only when you leave that you realise what a lovely life you've had. It's been fantastic." She paid tribute to her co-star Bill Tarmey who played her husband Jack in the show. "I won the Lottery when I got Bill," she said. "We've worked so hard together and he's a lovely man."

Hollyoaks scooped six awards including best actor and actress awards, as well as prizes for sexiest female, best exit and spectacular scene of the year award. EastEnders won four awards at the ceremony in London including Best British Soap, which was presented by Linda Gray, who played Sue Ellen Ewing in Dallas. The soap also won the award for Best Storyline for Max and Stacey's affair.

The British Soap Awards will be shown on ITV1 on Wednesday, May 7 at 8pm.

So, Corrie wins big but not as big as Hollyoaks, or as significantly as Eastenders? Well done the ITN for bringing us a balanced view!

I had to look twice at Tiana Benjamin, our little Chelsea Fox. I looked at Kara Tointon twice because i couldn't believe the hideous camouflage pattern on the dress.

I too had to look at Kara'a picture twice, if it wasn't for her name being under the picture I wouldn't have recognized her, she looked fab.

These are great photos. Thanks so much for posting them. It's really nice to see them outside their characters. Some beautiful women in the group too. Smile
