"Ah the news! George Galloway, while discussing the future of Cuba, has just called Channel 4 News - Fox News. It wasn't a mistake. He meant it. The presenter then said, "OK, leaving abuse aside". George then said, "Socialism will survive in Cuba, I know that makes you sad." He also stated that when Hitler was at the UK's door democratic rights like voting were suspended. This explains the lack of elections in Cuba. George Galloway has had many bizarre yet interesting interviews, yet this one seemed quite bitter. Channel 4 were once the home of liberal arts and culture. Now they are the agents of Fox! The reason I can forgive Galloway's rants is because the measured, pre-prepared, precooked, microwaved bites uttered by those who would refute Galloway are even more incredulous. Love him or loathe him Galloway has an unshifting political stance. "
I enjoyed that massively. Although I am also a fan of Krishnan Guru Murthy - he is a great man. Shame him and George came to blows, but then again both were just doing their jobs and I've seen interviews with Krishnan when he's not wearing his ITN hat where he's shown extremely liberal sympathies.
Krishnan is the greatest Channel 4 news presenter out there, followed closely by Jon Snow.
It has to be said, however, that he had a point in that there are no elections in Cuba. George often denounces Saudi Arabia in very strong terms precisely because they never hold elections. But the difference is that if the Saudis held free and fair elections, their kleptocratic faux monarchy would lose, but if Cuba held elections, Castro would win by a country mile.
Someone on that thread said "you know that most Cubans were unaware of Castro's announcement because it was on the internet, and apparently, Cubans are not allowed internet in their homes, only their workplace (so the sites they visit can be tracked)."
