Masochistic Comedian to Watch Entirety of ‘Two & a Half Men’ in One Sitting
Rosie Gray
March 04, 2011

Today, comedian Gil Ozeri is embarking on a grueling mission to watch every single episode of Two and a Half Men without a break. The real grace note to this is that all the show's episodes add up to about 62 hours, which is pretty much exactly two and a half days.
0diggsdigg

Ozeri allegedly started planning the stunt before the recent Charlie Sheen meltdown, but now the timing is right. The whole thing is going to be videotaped and broadcast online, and produced by Funny or Die. Someone notify Charlie Sheen. Ozeri writes:

Charlie Sheen is the highest paid actor on television. Two and a Half Men is the most watched comedy on TV. Two and a Half Men is also a crutch for every comedian when they need to reference the worst thing on TV. I have also never seen a single episode. Now, “Two and a Half Men” might be terrible. But I don’t want to make any “judgments” before I see it.

Ergo, Two and a Half Days of Two and a Half Men. He’s insane, and also possibly a genius. This is Marina Abramovic-level endurance art, for 62 hours. Winning, tiger blood, etc.

He's taken something unfunny and is turning it into CIA style torture!

Drugstore Cowboy author gets 16 years in jail for... robbing a pharmacy
Simon Neville
5th March 2011

The author of Drugstore Cowboy, about a drug addled thief who holds up pharmacies, has been sentenced to 16 years in jail for robbing a drugstore. Jim Fogle, who’s autobiographical book was turned into a Hollywood film in 1989 starring Matt Dillon, is convinced this latest stint in prison will be his last, having spent 57 years in and out of jail.

The 74-year-old, who was wheeled into court on Friday in a wheelchair, breathing through an oxygen tube, was found guilty of robbing a Redmond, Washington pharmacy with a BB Gun.

Fogle told the Seattle Times he thought this would be his final sentence, with 13 previous convictions behind him. He said: ‘There isn't much chance of getting out. If I hadn't got busted, I'd be dead by now the way I was living and stuff.’

His defence lawyer had asked for a 10 year sentence because of his poor health – he is undergoing lung biopsies at Harborview Medical Center – but this was rejected. The judge told Fogle: ‘Those victims did not know your gun wasn't a real gun, and they were terrified.’

Fogle, along with an accomplice Shannon Benn, 45, who got 11 years, robbed the Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy in the suburbs of Seattle. Staff managed to trigger a silent alarm when he broke in to steal drugs wearing a hoodie and a pink bandana covering his face. Police stopped him out the back of the store carrying a bin full of drugs, with his accomplice stopped shortly after the robbery in May last year.

Before his arrest, the author had been free from prison for three years – making it his longest stretch of freedom since first jailed for stealing cars aged 17. He said he is considering writing a biography of his life. ‘It'd be a great story. No one would believe it, there are so many twists and turns. And people would say, “Nobody could be that stupid.”’

He was first arrested in 1957 in St. George, Utah, stealing cars, not far from a nuclear testing facility. He explained: ‘I was running across the desert with a posse of cops chasing me ... and boom! It changed from blue light to a mushroom. I got busted about two hours after that.’ After that came stealing from jewellery stores and pharmacies, where he developed an addiction to narcotics including cocaine and heroin.

He was even inside during the release of critically acclaimed Drugstore Cowboy in 1989, directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Matt Dillion. In prison he spent most of his time reading books and writing around a dozen novels.

-------------------------

I'm surprised I'd not heard about his life before now - the movie is one of my favourites.

while I'm here, journalists who write who's instead of whose should be shot!

Speaking of writers, Gwyneth Paltrow is another one in the news:

Digested read: Notes From My Kitchen Table by Gwyneth Paltrow
This book is dedicated to the Wigmore-Reynolds, the Van Nices, the Turly-Burnses, the McCartney-Willises, the Nadal-Saxe-Coburgs, the Cameron-Cleggs and all the other little people with whom I have shared so many wonderful meals. But the biggest thank you goes to the trees who gave me their permission to be pulped. I literally could not have written this book without the literal assistance of Julia Turshen who literally did all the cooking and writing while I literally did yoga classes and literally had my hair done for the photo-shoot.

"Why?" you may ask, would the world's greatest actress wish to share her kitchen secrets. It is because I have the secret of eternal life. When my beloved father, who taught me so much about cooking, was diagnosed with cancer in 1998, I became convinced I could cure him with a macrobiotic diet. Sadly he died, but only because he had eaten too much steak and chips when he was young. But with these recipes my children and possibly your children, if they have double-barrelled surnames, can live for ever, and if you think I'm going to mention my idiot husband Chris and his rubbish band then you've got another think coming – he's never supported my ambition to be hailed as the new lifestyle goddess of those with too much time on their hands.

How to use this book Get a member of your staff to read it out loud while you are having a pedicure. If a recipe sounds tasty, ask him to cook it. If some ingredients are unavailable, call my favourite gourmet organic deli in Bel Air and have them flown over.

Vegetarian chilli When my daughter, Apple, was six months old she informed me she was a vegetarian. This is a recipe she has come to love. It's really very easy. Feel the pain of the carrots as you dice them and fry gently. Add some beans until you have a sludge. Serve with rice. (NB I only use wholegrain rice grown near the Tibet border. This takes four hours to cook, which is why I like to involve my children in the kitchen experience. Apple likes nothing more than staring at a saucepan while I nip out to phone Sting and Trudie.)

Bitter leaf salad Few things are as good for your liver as bitter greens – they support its detoxification. When it's cold and you feel like a hearty meal, there's nothing better than a puntarelle or escarole head. Go easy on the anchovy vinaigrette, or you could bloat.

Stick insect pancakes After meditating with some of LA's most profound mystics, I have come to realise that you are what you eat. If you eat pork, you will look like a pig. If you eat stick insects . . . just look at me. Place stick insects in cold water, then bring to boil while praying for their immortal souls. Add to pancake mix. Do not, under any circumstances, serve with sugar.

Asian portobello burgers I've come to realise that meals are a very special time when families come together. Ours is no exception, so my people have created a special app so that I can talk to Apple and Moses if I am in the gym when they are having lunch. As an American I have burgers in my DNA and there's nothing quite like the thrill of telling kids you are cooking them burgers, then seeing the disappointment on their little faces when you serve them up a mushroom!

Duck ragu One year Jamie Oliver came round to cook me lunch on my birthday. I expect he does that for you, too. He cooked this amazing duck pasta and I have literally spent the last 250 years trying to perfect it. Get a surgeon to give another duck at the Malibu Center for Desperately Sick Mallards a chance of life by transplanting the heart of the duck you are going to eat. Roast duck for two hours, then discard all fat. Not that I have any. Serve with spaghetti.

Apple crumble Slice one Apple into quarters and sprinkle with a light crumble. Put in oven. (NB Not suitable for vegetarians).

Digested read, digested: Thank you, thank you for . . . indulging me.

Ryan Dunn from Jackass killed in car crash
The 34-year-old and another passenger died when their car hit a tree in Pennsylvania
Jason Deans
guardian.co.uk,
20 June 2011

Ryan Dunn, star of MTV TV and film franchise Jackass, was killed in a car crash early on Monday morning. The 34-year-old and another passenger died at about 2.30am local time when the car the were travelling hit a tree and burst into flames in West Goshen, Pennsylvania, NBC Philadelphia reported.

Dunn was identified by his tattoos, according to a witness who was on the scene when the bodies were pulled from the wreckage. The mother of Dunn's Jackass co-star Bam Margera reportedly called a local radio station to confirm that he was killed in a car accident.

Dunn was one of the stars of Jackass, the MTV show in which he and a group including Margera and Johnny Knoxville conducted crude, ridiculous and often dangerous pranks and stunts. Jackass ran for three series on MTV from 2000, followed by three movies and several spin-off shows.

The remains of the car... (Porsche 911 GT3) - I wouldn't have liked to be the rescue workers at that scene.
