What a plank! A very hard lesson learned for sure. At least it went to a charity! |

I was so happy to hear this. If he had any honour, he would agree not to askl for the £500 back.
Actually, I assume he did NOT ask for the money back, since he said he was "punished". If he had asked for it back, he would have got the money back immediately from the bank under the Direct Debit guarantee system. |

Least the money was sent to charity...I wonder if he'll let the charity keep the money |

I guess the person who did it wanted to teach him a lesson, not steal his money. That was a good thing. He's lucky he's just 500 pounds down. Nice one! |

He might have a hard time convincing his bank that he didn't do the transaction. Unless his bank swallows the loss, he's probably out of luck.
Sounds like he got his comeuppance. |

He is also lucky it was only one person. I am careless with money, but I usually don't just give carte blanche access to it! |

Actually, that's the spin the bank would have probably said to get out of paying it back :
He was negligent with his account details .. and effectively encouraged the fraud.
I suppose the charity would have handed back the money if asked (since it is stolen property) .. but again the PR cost to clarkson would be too high. |
