There's something quite sad about etch-a-sketch art -- all that effort vanishes with a mere shake.

The philosopher inside weeps at the comment this makes about the impermanence of life. But another part of me a bit closer to surface yearns to beat that philosopher to a pulp.

I think they're pretty amazing really - notwithstanding major's philosophical turmoil! haha

Laughing Just remember major the most beautiful sand art made by the Native Americans is done to be just swept away. It speaks to us of the shortness and beauty of life.

No worries, Skylace. I was just having a laugh. Very Happy

I'm impressed by some of these. At least they have photographs. Wasn't Van Gogh (among others) known for destroying his paintings if he didn't feel they were up to his standards? Not to denigrate his work, but this medium might be right up his alley.

Laughing Sorry, so was I. Too bad we can translate tone of voice to posts!

I think this would actually work for a lot of artists who become disgusted with their work. It would help with canvas prices as well.

Yes, tone is so difficult to convey through text...

I'm with you eefan. The lat time I tried, I was hopeless. Which only increases my admiration for others' creative ability. Too bad they don't have "sketch-by-number" books. I could probably manage that.
