Good grief, this is just bizarre. If it were April 1st I would say it's a joke.

There can't be too many young readers that are struggling with their sexuality that they would need to be concerned with a thing like this surely?

What next? Hagrid has a grow op?
Snape is out of his head on pot? (actually that one could be true - he is the "potions" master)

I found out yesterday that dumbledore 'is an Old English word for any insect that flies with a loud humming noise' - it's all starting to fit into place! No wait, I haven't a clue what I'm on about...

I always suspected as much. No man can match their robes so well and stay so organized if he wasn't gay.

But honestly, I always got the feeling about the character. And with the last book I thought he had a thing for the Grindelwald fella. I do not agree however that the sexuality of the character should have been "more open". He didn't need to come out to of the cloak room. None of the adults in the book had that explored and in all honesty the lead characters didn't either. Yes, they liked members of the opposite sex and we saw them dating and such, but they were teenagers. If the book had included an type of deeper message than the basic one it had, it wouldn't have been as enjoyable, especially for kids. And, not to mention, the book was about Harry Potter. Not Dumbledore. Since almost everything is told with Harry there (except for a few chapters here and there) it would have also been a bit silly. How would we have found out? Harry stumbles upon pictures of Dumbledore and his ex? Dumbledore says "Oh, and by the way Harry, I'm gay and I killed my love Grindelwad." Gay porn in the headmasters office? I don't think so.
I think it's great that she has let the world know this, as many fans have always suspected, but I think the way she did it was great. It shows that being gay doesn't define who you are. Dumbledore was who he was, regardless of sexuality. Just like any other person in the real world.

Oh whatever ... I think it is silly to "out" a fictional character after all the books are done. I agree Sky that it didn't need to be addressed in the fiction as it had no bearing on the Potter Saga ...

I think it is totally silly and a PR stunt. This is a fictional book which has supposedly had its last installment.
