Freaks me out ... total freak out !!!
...you have got to try it!
At the end of this message, you are asked a question.
Answer it immediately. Don't stop and think about it.
Just say the first thing that pops into your mind.
This is a fun "test"... AND kind of spooky at the same time! Give it a try!!
Now... just follow the instructions as quickly as possible.
Do not go to the next calculation before you have finished the previous one..
You do not ever need to write or remember the answers, just do it using your mind. You'll be surprised.
Start:
How much is:
15 + 6
3 + 56
89
+ 2
12
+ 53
75
+ 26
25
+ 52
63
+ 32
I know! Calculations are hard work, but it's nearly over ..
Come on, one more!
123
+ 5
QUICK! THINK ABOUT A COLOR AND A TOOL!
Scroll further to the bottom....
A bit more...
You just thought about a red hammer ! , didn't you?
If this is not your answer, you are among 2% of people who have a different, if not abnormal, mind.
98% of the folks would answer a red hammer while doing this exercise.
If you do not believe this, pass it around and you'll see. |

Red hammer too. I don't think those sums have much to do with it though. Red is the first colour that comes into people's heads, and hammers are the first tool. |

This is scary. I wonder what it is about red hammers and math that are so inexorably linked in (most of) our minds. Perhaps doing simple calculations massages a deep part of our psyche that makes us want to smash things.

As soon as I saw that question I knew it was some kind of psych-test, so chose something different.
The thing that gives away this as a secondary (not instant) thought is the simplicity of hammer as a recollection in the mind. It's far simpler to remember as a sound (and image) than screwdriver. As far as the red is concerned - I'd guess it's also to do with the relation of the subject being noisy and perhaps dangerous.
I did this class once on learning skills and they showed this type of thing as an example...
I have to admit though - my answer was blue screwdriver. Same as sky's - were you kicking against the system too sky?! haha |

I guess I'm abnormal as well 'cause I didn't guess red hammer. Interesting quiz though. |

Awwww Yeah!
However, the reason I probably though it is because blue is my favorite color. Whenever I am asked to think of a color it always comes first to mind. As for screwdrivers, I've always liked a good screw! |

green screwdriver - I am with faceless on this one. I think hammer is just the easiest and most common tool to think off .... I always knew I was abnormal |
