does anyone know if any of the cheap ones here would be any good for encoding stuff from tv/freeview?

i don't think i have pcmcia, i might have pci, i know i've got usb though
i've had quite a bit of stuff from here, so if i can get setup on the cheap i'd like to help contribute something back, maybe i could help with the big brother stuff - as thats going to be a mission for one person to do i'll probably be watching them anyway, so might as well encode them while i'm at it
plus i have a little idea for newsnight/question time footage ... |

as long as you have a very clear aerial signal any of them should be ok.
I use a PCI card that has a direct composite input from my cable tv box. This doesn't give as good a result as PDTV (purely digital tv, which is what those usb jobbies do) but it's possible to do things in realtime, so there's no need to convert the files from mpeg2 down to avi, which is what you'd need to do usually.
I'll go into it more in the morning... |
