Grim-faced ... Tierney, left, at court yesterday

THE Sun won an historic legal victory yesterday after exposing the prostitute in the Wayne Rooney brothel libel case as a LIAR.

Gran Patricia Tierney, 52, tried to swindle hundreds of thousands of pounds in damages from us, claiming she was just an innocent receptionist.

She claimed her life had been ruined by a series of articles identifying her as a hooker known as The Auld Slapper in a Liverpool brothel Rooney used as a teenager.

But she left court with a face like thunder after Judge Christopher Clarke heard new evidence proving she WAS a hooker — and ruled that the case should be struck out.

The judge said at Manchester High Court: “It was a claim conceived in falsehood and continued in deceit.

“The central plank of the claimant’s case — that she was not and never has been a prostitute and only worked as a receptionist — is rotten.”

Tierney could now face prosecution for perverting the course of justice after the judge referred the papers in the case to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Manchester United and England ace Rooney, 21, had been lined up as a possible witness in the trial.

But the court heard The Sun uncovered dramatic evidence last week that proved Tierney HAD been a prostitute at Diva’s brothel in Aigburth.

The mum of seven was caught out because of a damning statement she gave to Merseyside Police in May 2002 in which she admitted offering sex for £45 a go.

She stated: “My role was dual. On some days I would work as a receptionist. On other days I would act as a sex worker. My role would be to provide sexual services for clients.”

Don't fancy yours ... the Sun's story

She described her “working clothes” of a black thong and bra set — and told how on one night she had sex with five men for money.

Married Tierney, of Whiston, made her 17-page statement after complaining that a man had posed as a police officer to get free sex.

In it, she said she had worked at Diva’s for the last five months.

Yet in her court claim she insisted she had worked there as a receptionist for just three weeks.

Anthony Hudson, for The Sun, said the statement had emerged last week and that, after it was served on Tierney’s legal team, her barrister and solicitors resigned from the case.

In light of the evidence, he said Tierney would be unable to find new representation.

Tierney was claiming damages for defamation, aggravated damages and exemplary damages after four August 2004 Sun articles — one headlined: “Don’t Fancy Yours Much Wayne.”

The Sun’s legal manager Tom Crone said last night that the final bill would have been about £750,000.

He said Tierney had a no-win, no-fee legal deal, which meant that even if she lost her claim we would not be able to recoup a penny in costs as she was in receipt of state benefits.

But Mr Hudson said: “This is a very straightforward case. There is only one issue. Did the claimant work as a prostitute or not? If she did not she wins. If she did, she loses.”

The judge ruled after a three-hour hearing that the case should be struck out on the grounds of abuse of the court’s process.

Sun managing editor Graham Dudman said last night: “This lady is the latest in a long line of people who think they can get away with a dishonest and fraudulent claim by suing newspapers.

“Our story was 100 per cent accurate and we are glad justice has been done. This is a good day for The Sun’s journalists and Sun journalism.”

It might be a good day for journalists but it must e a horrible day for Wayne to have himself associated with this story. He must feel like a proper ejit!
