Just had a listen to PM Cameron's much anticipated 'Europe speech' and the slippery devil is using discontent to maximise leverage to Capitalist advantage.
He is still on about this "global race" that we must win, that'll be the one with us standing on the shoulders of the up-to-their- neck-in-water poorer nations, in the great Capitalist Lake and every now and then standing on their heads to completely submerge them just to ensure that they know who is boss.
Overall claim: Europe is not flexible and adaptable enough and if you do not make a new Treaty for all the EU members, we will force you to make one with us.
Quote: | Complex rules that restrict our labour markets are not some naturally occurring phenomenon, just as excessive regulation is not some external plague that has been visited on our businesses. |
Quote: | These problems have been around for far too long and progress dealing with them has been far too slow. |
Quote: | As Chancellor Merkel said, Europe today accounts for just over 7% of the world's population and produces just over 25% of global GDP. |
More of the same bla bla bla will not see us maintain our advantages over up and coming countries.
Cameron's 'vision' for a European future built on 5 principles:
1. competitiveness( he DEMANDS flexibility {of the 'bend over' workforce}, choice{ of less safety and easiness to boot out employees}, and openness> HA- meaningless - HA!
2. flexibility
3. power must be able to flow both ways "back to member states not just away from them"
4. democratic accountability > HA -transparency- HA!
5. fairness new arrangements must work fairly for those inside eurozone and MEMBERS outside it....... (and let the rest of the World go to fugg ...... and it is only fair of course that the UK maintains an advantageous banking system ).
Of course the European Court of Human Rights is a bigger pain in our ass than the EU.... but we in the UK have spearheaded the attack against the ECHR.
Quote: | They have had Referendums promised but have not delivered.
We cannot in the UK decide right now on a straight 'in OR out' as you might pull through and so we could miss the boat by a wrong gamble.
|
Quote: | Spurious regulations that damage Europes competitiveness. |
..And IF we decide to stay in Europe , Europe must want us to stay in.
If you, the British Public re-elect us in 2015, we will pass a Bill authorising us to renegotiate our relationship WITHIN one year, have those negotiations completed AND an 'in OR out' Referendum on if those renegotiations are satisfactory within two and a half years from you re-electing us.
All viewpoints welcome and appreciated |

They must be scared of UKIP to come out with this. I reckon a referendum would see things changing slightly, but not a huge amount. Most people aren't little Inglanders after all...
Of course, Scotland may well have become independent (while staying in the EC) by then, so it won't mean much to us up here. |
