ISLAM4UK EXTREMISTS ATTACK GALLOWAY
Three Muslim extremists charged after attack on Galloway
10 April, 2010
Socialist Unity
George Galloway was set upon by a group of Muslim extremists while campaigning in East London this afternoon. Three men, believed to belong to the extreme sect Islam4UK, the latest name for Al-Muhajiroun, were arrested and subsequently charged with public order offences.
Galloway, who is standing in the Poplar and Limehouse constituency, was with a party of supporters in Watney Market around 3pm when he and his colleagues were first abused and then attacked by the group. “They called me a filthy Kaffir” said Galloway, “and shouted that no one should shake the ‘filthy Kaffir’s hand’. This lot are the latest incarnation of the banned group Al-Muhajiroun. They don’t want Muslims to vote, they don’t believe in democracy, and because I encourage Muslims to vote and take a full part in our society they hate me. My party, Respect, is the antidote to these despicable extremists.”
Galloway’s assistant Kevin Ovenden had his phone smashed in the incident and other supporters were abused and jostled. Galloway was also attacked, held hostage and received death threats from Al-Muhajiroun, then called Al-Gourabaa, in the 2005 General Election.

if this group had done the same to any other politician it would have been all over the media
Trio bailed after 'abuse attack' on Galloway
THREE men have been bailed on suspicion of hurling abuse at Respect politician George Galloway as he hit the campaign trail in Shadwell.
The men aged 22, 25 and 27 are all from the Bethnal Green and Shoreditch area and were arrested on Saturday afternoon on suspicion of using threatening words and behaviour and attempting to lunge at Mr Galloway at Watney Market. They have been bailed until May.
His three-year-old son, eight-year-old grandson and pregnant daughter were all with him at the time.
Kevin Ovenden from the Bethnal Green and Bow MP's office said: "They started shouting and finger pointing. We moved up the market. They came up to try to get to George."
He believed the men the men were shouting insults to deter people from voting because they are opposed to the political process.
He added: "People came out of the shops and remonstrated with them."
Mr Galloway is one of the candidates hoping to represent Poplar and Limehouse in Parliament.

Police probe threats against Bradford West MP George Galloway
thetelegraphandargus.co.uk
25th April 2012
Detectives are probing allegations of threats of harm being made against newly-elected Bradford West MP George Galloway. Officers have spoken to Mr Galloway about the allegations, which came to light at the weekend. Police have confirmed they are investigating threats against the MP, but have refused to discuss the nature of the threats, or whether anyone has been questioned about the claims.
Last night, Mr Galloway told the Telegraph & Argus he had confidence in the police investigation. The MP said: “I have every confidence in the police. I am sure they will be doing, and are doing, exactly what is necessary and proper.” Mr Galloway said the police had spoken to him about the allegations and their investigation was continuing. He added: “I can confirm the police statement and I am sure they are investigating it seriously.” He said he was not keen to magnify the issue because it was not good for Bradford.
The allegations have been discussed at a senior policing level. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We can confirm we have received an allegation of threats made towards Mr Galloway and that inquiries are ongoing.” A spokesman for Mr Galloway’s office said: “There is nothing to add to what the police have already said about this.” Bradford Council leader Ian Greenwood also declined to comment on the allegations. It is understood the alleged threats were not made directly to the MP.

I'm guessing it's EDL types this time, but time will tell I suppose. |
