Scottish comedian Gerard Kelly has died at the age of 51, after suffering a brain aneurysm. He died in a London hospital after collapsing at his home on Tuesday.

Kelly came to prominence for his role in Scottish comedy City Lights as Willie Melvin and had roles in both Brookside and EastEnders. He most recently appeared on television in three episodes of Extras as Ian Bunton. The comedian also appeared in pantomime at the Glasgow King’s Theatre for the last 20 years and earlier this year he played the role of the Narrator in the Rocky Horror Picture Show when it toured to Edinburgh and Aberdeen. He was due to reprise this performance in Glasgow in November.

A spokesperson for the King’s Theatre said: “Everyone at the King’s Theatre is shocked and saddened by the news of our dear friend Gerard Kelly. Our thoughts are with his family at this moment. The King’s Theatre crown has lost one of its most precious jewels.”

That's sad news - I didn't really like his style in the past but in the last few years I'd got to like him.
