George Galloway to Headline AMP Nakba Events Nationwide
Salem-News.com
13th May 2010

(PALOS HILLS, Ill.) - On Saturday, May 15, the American Muslims for Palestine will begin its nationwide campaign to commemorate 62 years since the Nakba in Sacramento, California. George Galloway, British MP and founder of Viva Palestina, will headline the event, which also includes Berkeley Professor and AMP Chairman Dr. Hatem Bazian.

AMP is commemorating the Nakba this year by reflecting on current human rights abuses in Gaza, Jerusalem and the West Bank. Events are planned in the following cities:

* May 15 – Sacramento, CA
* May 16 – Santa Clara, CA
* May 21 – Brooklyn, NY
* May 22 – Milwaukee, WI
* May 23 – Chicago, IL
* May 28 - Philadelphia, PA
* June 4 – Minneapolis, MN
* June 5 – Dearborn, MI
* June 6 – Washington DC
* June 12 – Paterson, NJ

Speakers include George Galloway; Dr. Hatem Bazian; Imam Zaid Shakir of Zaytuna College; Sheikh Jamal Said of the Mosque Foundation of Bridgeview; Osama Abu Irshaid, editor of Al Mezan newspaper; journalist Alison Weir, founder of If Americans Knew; and journalist Alan Hart, author of “Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews” vols. 1-3.

Nakba means Catastrophe

It began with the United Nation’s partition of Palestine in November 1947, and culminated on May 14, 1948, with the declaration of the state of Israel. While the world celebrates Israel’s birth, most people don’t realize what that country’s creation cost Palestinians. During the Nakba, Zionist terrorist organizations killed more than 13,000 Palestinians and forced more than 750,000 into exile. Many of Israel’s institutions, such as Tel Aviv University, were built upon stolen land and remnants of Arab villages that were ethnically cleansed of their indigenous population.

People looking to understand the Middle East conflict need look no further than 63 years ago when the United Nations took land that did not belong to them and gave it to the Zionist Jews, most of whom were recently introduced by Great Britain to the region during the Mandate period.

AJC Urges Scrutiny of Galloway Visit to United States
NEW YORK, May 14
PRNewswire-USNewswire

AJC expressed serious concern at the arrival in the United States of George Galloway, the recently-defeated British parliamentarian who has raised funds for Hamas, and supported Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations. He is slated to speak at events hosted by American Muslims for Palestine and the Muslim Legal Fund of America in a number of locations, beginning in northern California on May 16.

"Only a few days after voters ousted George Galloway from the British Parliament, has he returned to our country to seek additional funds for Hamas, which the U.S. government has designated a terrorist organization?" asked AJC Executive Director David Harris. "We trust the authorities will scrutinize Galloway's activities while here, since any money raised for and transferred to terrorist groups is a violation of U.S. law."

Galloway has long stood with radical forces in the Middle East. For example, though he now seeks to deny it, earlier Galloway had been a supporter of Saddam Hussein, and a strong foe of Western sanctions against a regime that ranked second to none in its record of human rights abuse. In 1994, during one of his visits to Baghdad, Galloway said to Hussein, "Sir, I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability."

In 2005, Galloway called for a Muslim-Progressive coalition. "Not only do I think it is possible, but I think it is widely necessary," he said. "It is possible because the progressive movement around the world and the Muslims have the same grievances. Their grievances are the Zionist occupation, American occupation, British occupation of poor countries, mainly Muslim countries."

Galloway has regularly boasted of his material support for Hamas. He has made several pilgrimages to Hamas in Gaza, as well as to Hezbollah in Lebanon. During a visit to Gaza in March 2009, he appeared on television handing over cash and vehicles to Hamas leaders, announcing that he was intentionally breaking sanctions against what he dubbed "the elected government of Palestine."

Hamas violently seized control of Gaza from the Palestinian Authority in 2007, two years after Israel completely removed its civilians and military and transferred the territory to the PA.

I've just read GG's new blog posts on the Daily Record (CLICK) and it seems the JDL's attempts to have him blocked have failed. Good stuff.

Hopefully there will be some good quality videos of the events appearing before long.
