This is obscene! I'm so angry, yet so unsurprised. |

What the hell? That's really saying something about how the BBC work. Are they going to ban all other satire as well? |
I had a dream last night that we were living under the rule of Mao Tse Dung, ... do you think my dream is coming true !!??
... I just hope GG slams into the BBC on his show tonight. |

Just when you think the beeb can't stoop any lower, they do this. Moral cowardice of the highest order. |

so the official outcome is that the song got to number 21 - "somebody's out to get us" is the comment from Galloway about it... |

I worked in music retail in the 80s in a chart return store (i.e. one of the shops where the sales volumes would directly influence the following week's chart placings) and you wouldn't believe the corruption that went on. Record companies despatching minions to buy multiple copies of certain singles, freebies, bribes, backhanders, you name it. I doubt any chart in the last 20 years accurately reflects the tastes of the public. I think it's much fairer now that downloads are included. Perhaps the BBC ban will do for "War" what it did for Frankie Goes To Hollywood (who also did a cover of "War" as I seem to remember. |

I just read somewhere that Ugly Rumours have achieved the record for the highest position ever achieved in a first week appearance in the charts by an unsigned band on downloads.
Hardly earth-shattering, but you'd think it would have been reported further... |

Looks like it's dropped out, or been pushed. Shame. |

Unsure what happened this week .. but have you seen yesterday's report on
http://www.georgegalloway.com/
Chart cheat
Our 'stop the war' single, War, was actually a Top 20 entrant last Sunday - but due to an accounting error by the download company it was denied that official placing.
Because of a software error 7 Digital, the company which handled the sales and reports figures to the Official Charts Company, failed to report over 2500 sales of the record. As a result last Sunday's chart show on Radio had War and Ugly Rumours at 21. In fact, had these sales been reported, the single would have debuted at Number 18!
To be fair to 7 Digital they immediately owned up to their mistake and wrote to Music Week and the OCC admitting their error. Click here to read the letter

Thanks to everyone who bought the record and made it a huge hit.
There is now US interest in the single and it will shortly be released in the States, along with a new video. We may even re-title the band the Bushwhackers! |
