**FYI, info on Blackpool**
You'll laugh! You'll cry! You'll rage! Know why? Because George
Galloway is launching the Mother Of All Talk Shows annual convention
in Blackpool on Friday, November 9 and Saturday November 10. There
will be a cabaret, competitions, prizes, a late-night disco on Friday,
an all-day conference and on the Saturday night his talkSPORT radio
programme will be beamed live from the venue - with audience
participation. We might even chuck in a stick of Blackpool rock. And
only £25 a ticket!
On Saturday the day kicks off at 12am at the Globe Theatre on
Blackpool's Pleasure Beach with the conference and runs through to
midnight. Scots singing diva Terry neason will be George's supporting
leading lady.
We are limited to 600 places and already the demand is huge. There are
two ways to pay. Go the website - www.georgegalloway.com - and pay by
credit card through PayPal (there's a button to do so). Or, if you
prefer, send a cheque for £25 made out to "Miranda Media Limited" to 9
Club Row, London E1 6JX.
A detailed itinerary is being prepared and will be send out shortly.
For any queries, please e-mail georgegallowaydotcom@gmail.com |

I'm not in the right class of people who can afford the £200+ it would cost to get there and eat/sleep/drink. |

If it is any consolation, I am not going myself .. someone has to be recording the show while it is live
Though with the advance saver fares on the trains, it is abysmal that tickets for the same seat costs can vary by 5 - 10 times depending on when or where you book them. This is thanks to privatisation (which I am 100% against), and thus similar to airline bookings. One consolation in this is that the 1st class/flexi-fare business travelers effectively subsidise the rest, though as Ryanair, EasyJet etc show, they can give a low price to all and still make loads of money by being super efficient. |

i'd like to go, but i was looking at train prices - its cheaper for me to get a return to amsterdam on the train/ferry than it is to blackpool and back ... and its quicker to get to the dam! |

Out of curiosity, do you have the figures/timings ?
We can see if others can find "better" routes / fares. |

I meant to both places .. almost like a race to see which is cheapest.
On www.thetrainline.com, I see LONDON to BLACKPOOL
SAVER RETURN : £63.90
But 2 singles are cheaper :
Outward : VALUE ADVANCE SINGLE C £16.50
Return VALUE ADVANCE 1ST SINGLE C £32
Total £48.50
**don't ask me why the cheapest return fare is 1st class .. must be a Class issue.
So doesn't that beat the cheapest £58 return from http://www.seat61.com/Netherlands.htm ? |

well spotted mandy, i didn't see the single prices - thats weird that two separate singles costs so much less than a normal return?! although when you click the single option for the journey, it doesn't seem you can actually select the cheap price it tells you about ...
time wise is varies massively - from 4.5 to 7.5 hours! |

I generally use train for traveling. All i can say is that if you want to get cheaper price ticket book early. I get a 30~33% student discount. But even in that case, in terms of of overall cost, it's quite expensive for me (blackpool trip). |

Luke, the cheaper fares I found were selectable, but not on every train. Sorry to see that you would have had 3 or 4 changes. |

i think most of the changes were getting across london mandy - once you get out of london i think it was pretty direct, maybe one change
just goes to show how shite and expensive the public transport system is in this country, some of those train tickets went into the hundreds of pounds ... i wouldn't pay that even if i got to drive the train!
hopefully he'll do another one of his stage shows in london again soon
mandy if some peeps from here aren't going, we could cover your recordings of the show so you could go - your practically staff, you should be there! |

Yes, Mandy, you definitely should go. We all know you're the real force behind the GG organization.
I'm all set up to help you out with recordings. (I know how you like them--intro chat plus complete 3-hour block.) Either WAV for editing or MP3.
Who cares if they don't get onto SpiderNews quite so quickly for one weekend. (Or maybe if you got sent an MP3 you could even post it from Blackpool.)
