Good on ya Bat for setting up a ManUre subject - I hope IRiSH doesn't come in here - she always tells us off for going in her Man U thread.
Can't believe how the jammy bastards beat the 'Pool last week - and scrapped a lucky draw yesterday. |

From IRiSH's "I love Manure" thread
Quote: | I watched the Man U vs Middlesbrough game yesterday and it was plain to see Boro lost their heads in the last 5 or so minutes of the game. It was also obvious the Jonathan Woodgate penalty was just that and there was no way Ronaldo could have stayed on his feet. He was in full charge and in no way took a dive as the pricks at Sky News were trying to insinuate. |
Are you bloody joking? It's as obvious a dive as you could ever wish to see. There didn't even appear to be any contact. He just stumbled like Bambi and lost his footing. Cheating fekker.
Apparently 3 out of the 4 pundits on the BBC more or less called him a cheat
Gary Lineker......He doesn't need no invitation to go down does he
Alan Hansen.....He's looking for something like that when he reaches the box
Alan Shearer....You just don't touch him when he reaches the penalty area
Mark Hughes.......Never made any comment....Surprise Surprise
The point is that all teams have them, but it's no way to win a game. |

All I saw of it was his cheeky grin as he was asked about it in some interview - seemed guilty to me. |

This made me smile. It's a reproduced post from another football forum - talking about Ronaldo's attitude and why some players out there are willing to crop Ronaldo rather than let him swan past them....
Quote: | It's got nothing to do with his talent, but its his attitude towards other players. It's the little smirks, smiles, and winks, that he does EVERY game, and his general piss-taking of defenders. He just has that sort of face that you want to slap. (I'd still say that if he played for Chelsea as well)
No-one like to be made a fool of, and defenders are no different to anyone else.....
He's lucky that he plays in this day and age.
I can guarantee he would have had a broken leg by now if he'd played in the days of Tommy Smith, Norman Hunter and Ron Harris.
(In fact my old man was speaking to Ron Harris at a golf do a month ago, and old Chopper, with a smile on his face, said, "he may have got past me the once, but he wouldn't have done it a second time") |
Quote: | never mind Tommy Smith, Norman Hunter and Ron Harris,if vinnie or julian dicks got near him the would EAT HIM.
i can guarantee you if cantona and keane were playing on the united team today the would take lumps out of ronaldo for his carry on. |
'nuff said! |

I'd not like to see him have his legs broken - just that he stopped being such a cheating bastard. If he was in my team I'd be complaining. A perfect comparison of a good player against bad would be Larsson next to Ronaldo - both highly talented, but one is respected by players and fans of all teams, while the other's a conniving cheat. |

As far a football skills are concerned, there is no question that Ronaldo is unbelievably talented and fantastic to watch. It's this other side to his game that make him a target for such deserved criticism. Frankly he does not need to perform these gymnastic antics - he is too skillful for most defenders and would likely either skip past them or be genuinely fouled and earn the free kick.
IRiSH: Reminds me a bit of Darcy Tucker from a couple of years ago - but he cleaned up his act considerably since then and has become a better (hockey) player as a result. |

I don't normally approve of people taking advantage of children like this, however in this case I shall make an exception as it's SO FUCKING FUNNY!!!
Brilliant - absolutely classic Face.
No doubt IRiSH will make some comment about childish antics so in advance of such comments I say.... nyer nyer nyer nyer nyer |
